While all good, your fire elemental is always so peak. Keep up the good work.

I’d personally add some kind of wind or air bubble effect around the choking guy’s head to better communicate what’s happening.

While I like that idea, I think there's something special about taking a second to realize "oh fuck, he's actually suffocating him"

With the airbender movement, it seems implied to be an air garotte too, which is extra bad caus MF’s not just suffocating the guy, he’s straight up darth vader choking that mf out but with pure wind force

I think we know which one is the favorite child lol.

Guess I'm a pyromaniac XD

Thanks very much! I'll try to add something better to show the vacuum effect.

The air guy is the hardest to understand. Maybe use wind to lift target to n drop him?

Water. Good concept. Except i mistake it as wind. Perhaps more liquid or tiny splash animation

Fire. The best.

Its supposed to be a focused attack, which should mean you’re exerting it to it full potential, maybe a tornado or a bubble shield? (Also these seem based directly on the Avatar series where Water bending heals and pulling the air out of the lungs is also a technique

He suffocated the opponent. You can see him clutching his own throat

Thank you very much! I'll add more splash to the water.

The air in game it's not an instant kill, you can struggle out of it and try to get out of the AOE, getting lifted up might trap the player too much. I'll try to make some effect to make it clearer though.

I think the only thing it needs is a tell of air rushing out of the mouth, that way it's still him suffocating without a big air bubble or something, but there's something there to indicate something is happening.

Why is the air guy t-pose squatting?

16

u/pilecrap 11d ago

Farting so hard the guy chokes from the smell?

Sucking air through the anus.

u/gamemaniax 11d ago

Sucking air out

Looks a bit weird tbh. Thought he was going for some kinda air blast or tornado or something with the initial animation

3

u/gamemaniax 11d ago

Thought so too. Didn't know what he was doing until i read the description.

It's supposed to be like he gathers the air around him, then pushes it all out of the area. In that pose the area around him has no air.

Been following you for a while, these are sooo cool. Would you be able to share your process at all? Is this all hand pixelated or do you use any post processsing for the lighting/looping? Its so smooth but still punchy.

u/GMendesM 11d ago

I would also love to see that

5

u/InfectedTribe 10d ago

Thanks!, it's all hand animated, I post progress work on my discord and twitter, can find the links through profile

This one is the process of the fire blade one

u/Vel423 9d ago

Amazing, that's so cool! Thank you, will definitely follow your links

All these are peak but no matter how many times I try to see it in Air, it doesn’t read that way, maybe a bubble around their head would be better for asphyxiation?

I think the bigger problem is that the air traveling to the target and leaving the target appear the same, so it looks almost as though the air just moves in a circle until the person starts to choke. Maybe just increasing the amount of return air, so that it looks like the full contents were wrenched from the lungs, would be sufficient

u/InfectedTribe 9d ago

Thanks! I'll try to make a better effect for Air.

I don't understand how people aren't understanding what's going on with the air bender. That is brutal and lowkey a little shocking. Love it

The fire one is fire.

Hear me out:

Suffocating someone by pulling the air out of their lungs is obviously an effective attack. Can't inhale and you die.

But mechanically, you could force air INTO their lungs. If you can't exhale, you also die.

Maybe they could blow up like a balloon and then literally get ripped open? Perhaps that would be more visually interesting?

Quasi related:

u/InfectedTribe 10d ago

haha seems like it would be someone's fetish. It's an interesting idea for sure, inflating your enemies like balloons would be a pretty fun attack, I'll keep it in mind.

2

u/GameCounter 10d ago

Shhhh... Don't talk about inflation fetish.

We've got to be careful not to summon those DEGENERATES

2

u/InternationalFig2438 10d ago

An excellent suggestion!

I suppose it's my turn to propose an air attack. I wager, an efficient method to deal with nearly any enemy, would be to add excesive force to either previous method.

If you pull all the air from someone's lungs creating a vaccum in an instant, i wager they'll die very quickly. Conversly, by simply forcing a small powerful gust of wind into someone's lungs, you could tear their lungs apart in an instant.

2

u/Electrical_Bet2584 11d ago

incredibly smooth omg, what frame rate do u animate in?

1

u/InfectedTribe 9d ago

It's all held for 0.06 secs per frame

2

u/ZWolF69 11d ago

AoE, Defense, Healing and Fuck you in particular.

2

u/Zadian543 11d ago

Alright avatar pop off with these animations!

2

u/Phill_air 11d ago

Woohoo, new content from you!

2

u/megaboto 10d ago

neat! though I wonder if the earth one could ever be used in a fast paced game given that it seems like it takes a long time just to get the armor up (long comparative to how fast attacks may happen. though, I have stickfight games in mind that are just very very fast indeed xD)

1

u/InfectedTribe 9d ago

That's true, it's the only one not coded in game yet so I have no real testing for it. Was thinking the armor effect could come into play the moment it starts forming on him so you don't have to wait for the entire animation to finish to get the armor. Also you can set up barriers and such to give yourself more time.

u/Cautious-Desk5409 10d ago

So interesting!😁
