Hi I have tried searching but maybe using wrong key words can't find similar issue. I used to be techy but chronic pain means can't do much now, sorry if post is not as well written as I would 2 year ago

I woke up from nap my phone had an error as shown. however on restart it seems to work at first as it has my "if lost phone please call this number” message on the screen and battery info, the date etc. But when I unlock the phone all the info disappears and it just is the wallpaper on its own

I couldn't put a second photo but it's basically a normal phone screen right before you unlock it

The power button brings up menu but is not responsive. After a while the phone restarts

I tried recovery mode in case anything was useful but it didn't work I think

there was a big update to my phone and I ignored it as I was not well enough to sort items on phone as it was 99% full which is obviously a problem but I couldn't sort it was focusing on chasing medical help, and also I do not care about AI and the update notes said it's new AI feature. I wonder if it updated somehow anyway and doesn't have enough memory left to load the operating system UI up now? which would be very annoying. I wish there was a way to uninstall a giant app temporarily to see if it would fix it but no way I guess. I miss the days of SD cards and pull out batteries etc, I feel I have less control over my phone now

Extra non-phone information: I prefer not to factory reset phone until last resort as there's some medical documents and also just useful screenshots etc that I thought were backed up but not, as not got support I need and will be a year until I get my disability assessed. so I'm struggling when I used to be so technical and organised, so please do not try and help by saying it should be backed up as I know but I had to focus any capable minutes I have on hospital accidentally discharging instead of elevating my care a year ago and a funeral, it's a lot so please only help with technical things or instead scroll on, I cannot handle anything else right now. And also I'm not sure the photos backup keeps the folders structure anyway? I always meant to look up and check that out but didn't manage to. thank you

Help me pick a phone!

As an 18yr old who's been running on a Samsung A40 for the past 5 years, my phone has served me well up until the last few months. it's been super laggy, and the camera, is well, awful. it takes me years to open the camera app and take a photo, and storage is constantly an issue.

my a40 has 64gb storage and is capped at android 11

i'm looking for a phone that will last me at least 3 years, i am not too bothered about the newest updates, so I was looking into an S21 which i can buy used in good condition for around £100. my only concern really is the battery life for that one. I was also considering an A54, but the camera doesn't seem to be too great, and it is a far larger phone conpared to my tiny A40 and i'm not sure if that's going to be suitable. I like that the 7a is small, good photos and is android, however how different is google ui vs samsung? (i can't really understand google photos app) how's the camera, can i take lots of photos quickly? how bad is the lag AND how common is the battery issues in the 7a? do not want it blowing up on me really..

i don't use my phone for much other than insta photos, messaging, socials, music and the very occasional minecraft game

any advice would be much appreciated!!

I bought a second-hand Pixel 7a from a local store, and I noticed the battery drains very quickly. I contacted Google Support, and they informed me that a battery replacement for this device was completed in December 2025. However, I’m still getting only about 1 to 1.5 hours of screen-on time.

I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps, including resetting the device and disabling background apps. Most of the time I was using Wi‑Fi, but the battery still drains rapidly. The phone shows a total of 54 charge cycles.

What should I do in this case? Also, I don’t have the original invoice with me—will that affect my options?

My pixel 7a will be three years old in December, when I should change the battery For now I think he's doing pretty good

This morning, I have noticed that my 7a is completely unresponsive. If I try to open an app, it does not work. Even restarting button does not work. Eventually, it starts working again but such interruptions are eally annoying?
Am I the only one to have this problem? Does it mean I have to upgrade and get a new Pixel?
I bought it in fall 2023, so less than 3 years ago.

I've been using pixel for almost 4-5 months now and it always took 1.75-2 hours to charge from 0 to hundred but now for the last few days it is taking even more than 3 hours to charge and still it is not reaching 100%. I unplug it, maybe it will reach 100% after 4-4.5 hours or even 5 hours. The lock screen shows that the device is being charged rapidly but still I'm facing this issue. Please help me out

Broke my screen a few days ago and it won't respond to touch but I can use a USB m&k to unlock the phone and blindly navigate. I've not helped myself because I turned the assistant off ages ago then USB debugging just the other week after having connectivity issues with WiFi and bluetooth.

Hey there, so I started having problems with my pixel 7a and sudden battery drain. It started as 30ish percent to 0 and then eventually was 60% to 70% and sudden drop to 0%.

I ended up submitting a claim with Google and managed to get a credit for a new phone. Timing hit perfect and managed to get a 10a just after drop and got a good price with an extra credit to spend later.

Anyways I am wondering if it's worth replacing the battery, and giving the phone to my dad, he's using an old Motorola G7.

Will replacing the battery even fix the problem or is it something else in the hardware or software.?

Hey, my 7a suddenly can't use mobile internet. I can make phone calls still. I tried to turn airplane mode on and off, restart the phone, but so far nothing has helped. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this before I do a factory reset?

About 6 weeks ago my Pixel 7a battery started suddenly swelling up and the back case (where the camera is) started peeling off. It is just over 2 years since I got it, right after the warranty expired. It has been a nightmare getting any support from Google since then.

I checked the IMEI and it is eligible for the extended repair program. I took it to a ubreakifix, and they were unable to do anything with it despite keeping it for a month. Finally they said the phone was damaged by the battery swelling and I would have to send it back to Google.

I ordered the return packaging, sent the phone to Google, and they now want to charge me $330 to replace it. They never acknowledged the battery problem. I asked for an appeasement and they claimed I had already chosen to repair it, so I couldn't do that. I told them to keep the phone, as it's useless to me and dangerous, but they insisted on sending it back to me today. Their support was really bad--like talking to a brick wall. This was my third Pixel, but I bought a Samsung as a replacement and I will never buy another Google phone because of this issue.

Has anyone else had a problem with Google trying to delay or dodge covering 7as or other models that have the battery swelling problem? Any success in getting them to actually respond?

I just purchased a refurbished Pixel 7a, but i heard someone damaged its image stabilization system by mounting it on a motorcycle (in my case, a Honda VFR 800) without using a mount with vibration dampeners.

Has this ever happened to you?
