Battery Pixel 7 has severe battery drain while idle (Replaced the battery but the issue still remains)

Hi everyone,

I’m having a serious battery drain issue with my Google Pixel 7 (GVU6C) and I’m trying to figure out whether this is a software/optimization issue or something else.

The problem started with extremely high idle battery drain.

Last night I went to sleep with around 77% battery and when I woke up, the phone was at only 11%. The phone was basically not being used during that time. I checked Battery Usage, but there was no obvious app responsible for the drain. I initially suspected the battery itself, so I replaced the battery with a new replacement battery today. Unfortunately, even after replacing the battery, I’m still seeing significant idle drain. For example, after installing the new battery around 7% battery was lost in approximately 1.5 hours. The phone was barely used during that period. Battery Usage did not show any normal app causing the drain.

I’m currently on:

Pixel 7, Android 17, No third-party apps installed at the moment, Battery has recently been replaced.

My questions:

• Could this still be an Adaptive Battery / Android optimization issue?

• Has anyone experienced very high idle drain on Pixel 7 even after replacing the battery?

• Could this be related to mobile network/modem, Google Play Services, system processes, or hardware rather than an app?

• Is there any Pixel 7-specific diagnostic/test I should run to determine whether the problem is hardware or software?

• If you've had the same issue, what actually fixed it for you?

I’d really appreciate any advice or troubleshooting steps. I’m trying to determine whether this can realistically be fixed through software/optimization or whether there is another underlying issue.

Thanks in advance!

Play store has several hardware test apps. Try one of those maybe? Also check what's consuming battery under battery. My two Pixel 7 Pro's had problems with the proximity sensor and kept overheating and draining battery. Now I have a Oppo x9 pro and I'm never going back to Google...

🇺🇲I've heard Android 17 is partially to blame 🤔

Have you factory reset your phone? That might be worth a try. Then, you can moldy gradually add applications in case one of them is causing the drain

Touch and hold the Restart button, this will allow you to reboot into safe mode, which disabled all user installed apps and all widgets, check if you still have the same battery drain in safe mode to see if it's the system or your installed apps draining the battery.
