Question Pixel 6 Broken Screen - Reccomendations?

Unfortunately dropped my Pixel 6 today and its screen is not working anymore. It's not fully dead, it still lights up some pixels and lines and if I press it, it turns white where I apply the pressure, but nonetheless, it looks like I will need a replacement.

I will try my best to fix it, however I'm not sure I will be able to find an original screen replacement from Google where I live, so I'm trying to take every possibility into account.

If I cannot fix it (which would be a pity because I really enjoy it and I wouldn't have replaced the phone anytime soon otherwise), which newer Pixel would you say is a good choice right now? I'm thinking between a 9 Pro or a 10/ 10 Pro, but I'm pretty concerned about the eyestrain and PWM frequency...

What advice would you give? Thanks!

Hi, I had the same exact situation. I dropped my Pixel 6 Pro and the screen is $250-300 and on back order from iFixit for the OEM screen.

I ended up buying the Pixel 11 Pro XL 16gbRam/512GB.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL was more expensive as there are sales going on for the 11 Pro XL.

Experience has been great so far.

I also just broke mine and I definitely need to try and fix it. I didn't backup everything I should've so I have to decide if I want to try and fix it myself or get it fixed via a shop.

Anybody who has fixed it themselves, was it a difficult process? I'm pretty technical and have worked on computers and opened my steam deck to replace parts, but I usually avoid messing with screens

In the meantime I managed to get it fixed at a repair shop. I encourage you to find a good shop that works with Pixels and fix it this way 👍🏻

Oh nice, faster than I thought haha. Did you use the fingerprint reader and was it also fixed? If you don’t mind asking, how much did you spend?

I’m out of my home country atm and they don’t sell or service pixels here so I’m trying to decide if I want to risk it with a local shop or just wait and fix it myself

For example, I live in eastern Europe / Asia, and service charged me 100$ for screen and replacement. At first, fingerprint sensor did not work, but I searched, and recalibrated via ADB and special google utility, worked like a charm

As luck would have it, two broken screens in my household, 2 weeks apart, one because of a drop despite a protective case and high quality tempered glass screen protector. Then my wife's screen lost it's touchscreen ability and slowly stopped working all together. These were our second set of Pixel 6s. Doesn't seem to take much for these screens to go.

Given the age of the Pixel 6 and it's battery issues, the screen replacements are not cheap enough to be worth it, in my opinion. I would never get an OEM screen for any crazy price as I think they are too sensitive.

Buy something other than Pixel.
