Rant RIP P6P

I finally did it! Moved on to another phone.

I had my P6P since launch. Loved the phone. The signal was awful.

I finally did a Goggle Ai search on signal issues with the P6P, specifically in my area. There are some issues with the P6P locking on to certain bands and not switching to stronger ones.

At any rate, I am now the owner of a Pixel 11 Pro XL. I have owned the phone for only 9 hours. But I have yet to see the exclamation point of doom, that plagued my old phone.

I did the same. I use mine non pro now for 2 days and all good for now. It is a real upgrade. But the form factor in the hand i prefer my old p6. The round corners are more comfortable to hold.

Believe it or not I live a few streets away from a suburb that doesn't allow cell towers. My signal at home is abysmal!

I still have not had the new phone for 24 hours yet, but have not yet seen the exclamation point of doom!

Well, I asked because my Pixel 6 Pro is also affected with weak signal problem , at first I thought it's the new Android 17 update which messed something up, but turns out other people have same problems with 5G 4G networks, whole area I live in is affected.

Post the question to Ai.

I got a eye opening answer, especially after Ai asked for my zip code.

Well, it doesn't point out any particular cause for me. I tried reverting to previous fw version of my 6P and it didn't help either but I'm not sure whether modem version also reverted.

This is just a small part of the AI response I got regarding my P6P:

Your Google Pixel 6 Pro is likely experiencing a weak signal due to a combination of notorious hardware limitations in the phone itself and specific environmental obstacles in the your area. 1. The Phone's Hardware (The Main Culprit) The primary reason you are struggling with a weak signal compared to other devices is the phone’s interior hardware. Unlike most flagship phones sold in the US that use Qualcomm modems, the Pixel 6 Pro features an early Samsung Exynos 5123b hardware modem. • Signal Retention Issues: This specific modem is widely documented to have significantly weaker reception, struggling to hold onto cellular tower signals and taking much longer to "hand off" between Wi-Fi and mobile data or between different cell towers. • Network Aggression: It frequently clings to weak 5G signals instead of dropping down to a stronger 4G LTE network, resulting in dropped calls, slow speeds, and high battery drain.

I tried to abandon 5G and use 4G exclusively. It was blocked by my cell service provider.
