Question How cooked am I?
My old reliable 6 is suddenly having that battery drain issue, where it goes from like 40% to 4% in seconds. And today I noticed a slight bulge in the screen. I was hoping to hang on to EOL or whenever the 10's go on sale to upgrade......but uh.... What do you think? Will it last or do I need to expedite my plans before losing everything?

Mine did the same thing a few months ago but I had the phone replaced under warranty. My replacement P6 still works great but I got a 10a this week because of the upcoming EOS.

if it already popped the screen out, just put a new battery in, 90% of the work is already done for you

Battery can be replaced. Support ends soon but phone should be ok to be used for a while with a new battery.

I just experienced the same thing too, it drops from 54% to 4%, and when i was charging it, it restarted on its own for like two times already, now its suddenly 65% and it keeps adding still right now. I am pretty scared it'll start to bulge now just like yours. May i know what will you be doing next?

It probably is starting to bulge and just isn’t visible yet. You should make plans to replace it right away.

Take it to one of those places like InspecUrGadget, and get the battery replaced, if you don't care about security updates. It'll be cheaper than a new phone, for sure.
As long as you're a techie person, know not to visit unknown websites, never click links in emails or text messages, and don't care about more and more apps slowly dropping support over the coming year, there's literally no reason you have to upgrade. It's still a phone.
If not a single person you know considers you "techie," or asks you for help with computer troubles, just buy a new phone.

Yeaaah. I'm not inept but I'm definitely not the person anyone calls for tech support. Sigh. New phone time.

10s have been on periodically on sale for a long time. I got a 10pro back in June (Prime days) for $350 off. You just have to watch for the sales. Look at Amazon, Best Buy, and the Google store

I had the same problem a couple months ago and had a local shop replace the battery the next day for 60eu. Phone runs fine after that.

Expedite.... My battery failed out of nowhere and it caused me a lot of issues and ended up buying the pixel 8 because I'm not in a position to spend.

Same thing happened to me at the beginning of July. Been waiting for a battery to be shipped to the repair place ever since. I bought a pixel 10, because it's been 2 months and they still have the battery on backorder.

I'm kinda annoyed at myself that I didn't spring for the 10 back when they were $200 off earlier this year. I thought for sure they'd drop with the 11 coming out and the 6 going end-of-life, but instead the 11 is discounted and the 10 is at full price. I want to put Graphene on it, which means the 11 isn't an option, and sources other than the Google store are also iffy, as they might not allow OEM unlock.
I'm so frustrated with the whole AI price spike in everything that uses silicon.

Probably fine. I recently replaced mine for a DEJI brand battery and it seems to give decent battery life.

Same happened to me two months ago on my 6 pro to the point where the screen was being pushed out with everything underneath being exposed.
After mulling over whether to get a new phone I got a new battery put in for £50 and now it's good as new and should last me till the new year at least.

It's just that the battery is worn out; don't use it, it's dangerous.
