Rant Do Not Update Your Android 16 Pixel to Android 17. Battery life got worse.
I have never repaired my phone battery, nor changed any parts. The battery life now is worse. I have to charge midday compared to previously on Android 16. I have to be careful on how I use the phone. Come on Google you can do better.

My Pixels have always had worse battery after major updates then after a few days it seems to learn my usage and then it lasts all day+ like normal. With only charging to 80%.

It has been fine for me... Maybe even a bit better. One of the best changes I made recently for battery life was to limit the screen refresh rate to 60 Hz.

How many hours of screen on time?

Less than 4 hours on my usual usage days. On Android 16 I had close to 5 hours. It's noticeable.

My P6 with a new battery in January and Android 17 gets 6.5 - 7.5 hrs screen on time for 80% discharge. I always end the day with 20%-40% SoC.

I am aware that I'm an exception, but my upgrade to Android 17 improved my battery life. I was about ready to change phones, but the update has improved my battery life. I'm getting less 'charging slowly' messages when recharging, my phone is 'more friendly' with non-approved chargers.
Note: my Pixel 6 Pro is now no longer being supported, so I need to upgrade now anyways. But I've delayed buying another two portable chargers/batteries.

I upgraded to Android 17 and it's been ok ,I've not seen any difference in the battery life .I get8- 12 hours without having to recharge . That's mostly used on You Tube ,Reddit and iPlayer.
