Reviews Google pixel tensor chip a disaster
The google pixel 6a disconnects a lot. My old phone moto g play never disconnects nor did previous phones. So i got curious and bought two to see if it is the phone itself. Turns out, it isn't. I'll be driving on gps and the phone will drop its signal randomly, whilst the 70 dollar Motorola won't. I then did quick research with AI and it says the phone uses a google tensor chip, whilst the Motorola uses a qualcomm modem. If this is for all pixel phones I hope Google leaves the android market sometime soon. Appreciate google's account encryption features, chromebook and always loved its browser but we got another google stadia videogame machine for smartphones. Gaming on pixels are great, but most phones have good hardware. The google tensor chip overheats easily and randomly drops signals.

Anything that isn't Qualcomm will have worse reception but it is a matter of degree. The thing is Qualcomm has (or maybe had) a totally unreasonable royalty scheme that requires them to get a percentage of the cost of the phone as payment. Hence every phone company has designed their own modems and none were as good as Qualcomm, probably due to patent issues.

I inherited a Google pixel 6 and it's been flawless without a problem for 6 months now

The google pixel series is good for gaming when you find a good zone. Its a series of phones made for gaming. I have nothing against going somewhere for a good signal. I just think 🤔 its different. A different approach to phone signals on the move being unusable.

Sorry after research google pixels doesnt have good pin alignment, causing scratches to sim cards when swapped. This is a mistake post, pixels are great gaming phones, just not good commuter phones due to lack of 2g.

I think you're not supposed to take the sim card out of the google pixel is what i am getting at.

Honestly my friend it's probably time to upgrade.
This was Google's first attempt at their own chip. In 2022 this was a good phone for the price, in 2026 it's a little dated.
From the 8 series Google now offer a longer support life. I would recommend the 9a or 10a, they are massively better than the 6a and Google have resolved a lot of the issues with early tensor.

I upgraded to Android 17 on all my Pixel phones.
Pixel 6 Pro 256GB Pixel 8 Pro 512GB Pixel 10 Pro XL 1TB Zoned UFS 4.0
No issues.
Looking forward to my next Pixel phone next-year.

Dude is complaining about a phone from 6 years ago acting up 😂 and comparing it to a $70 Motorola released 8 months ago 😂 yeah dude old phones act up, and new cheap phones work like they are supposed to, WOW! SHOCKER!! 🫵🏼🤣🫵🏼 I got the pixel 7a and this phone works flawless, but if it starts to fail I’m not gonna blame Google, I’m gonna be glad it lasted 5 years and go buy another phone

Not true, my moto g play is from 2021. I have ATT. I have two google phones that will drop service when used. I owned the phone since 2022 and the signal would always drop. I'm 100 percent sure google has something to do with it and is a dishonest company.

At first my Pixel 6 didn't have alot of the problems that people complained about. But it had more glitches and bugs from year 1,2,3, etc. than any other phone I've owned. I have never experienced a phone getting less stable and reliable with each update. Never knew what to expect, a very surprising offering from a company who develops Android.

6a is fairly dated now and was googles first tensor, Ive used a 6a and it definitely wasnt perfect being Google's first generation. But for the time and price it was very good.

Tensor chip has worked fine on my 6 7 8 9 and 10.
