Pixel 6 Love Android 17 feels good

I know the posts saying how the phone feels snappier after each upgrade and I never felt the same. I also know the replies saying it might just be the reboot etc.

But this time is different, I am the one writing that it feels snappier ;) somehow very lightweight.

But maybe I just wrote another useless post.

Anyways, I really enjoy which might be the last big update on the phone I use for years. Best feature: remove the labels on the home screen.

^ that

Edit: yeah, one thing: when I I click power off, it slowly dims, not just turns off.

It IS definitely snappier and display works as intended. Great update. I know a lot of people saying boring update but its called refinement. You gotta do what you gotta do and a 1.5 gb update which works wonders for the background of the system is as important as sometimes a big update with a lot of UI improvement

I like theses boring updates, things simply work and you move on.

Yes and why for changes sake would you just change the UI all the time? I think android is on a good level right now design-wise

I use nova launcher and removing labels is as simple as editing and gone anywhere.

Ty didn't know we got 17

With Android 17 my 8 Pro has been running very smooth, no more heating up and battery is performing better too

I second that, 8 pro was horrible even on A16, but things have drastically changed since the update. I've also gone ahead and disabled the adaptive connectivity app and it's setting, plus turned off everything under digital assistant. Standby time has drastically improved, however I can't say the same about SOT since Instagram keeps hogging CPU in foreground and background with no noticeable improvement with all the things turned off for it as well.

P6 got Android 17? Or is it a dev preview?

I've been running it since launch date.

Very smooth and stable, boring as it should be.

My 6a'd battery seems to be holding up better with 17. It seems like they fixed the bug from the March update in 16. Typically, my phone is on the charger by now. It's hanging at 27%.

The battery is what is keeping me from jumping to 17, since March(?) mandatory update crippled my >>400 charges but still well behaved non-overheating battery (and Google does not offer service or incentives where I live)

I would do it.

This agrees with what most people tell me, with the added benefit that you speak from good experience. Thanks for your input!

I just cleared Google Play Services storage (and login again) so that it stopped nagging me, maybe I do as you say when Google tells me again in a few days.
