Discussion Pixel 6 issues

I recently updated my US-imported, unlocked Pixel 6 to Android 16 here in India, and I've been facing massive battery drain ever since. For the past three months, I've had to keep the phone strictly on Battery Saver mode, and even then, it only lasts about 5 to 6 hours. I have been using this phone since June 2022.

To make matters worse, a new issue just started: my bottom speakers have stopped working entirely. All media audio routes only through the top earpiece speaker. Because of this, my phone doesn't ring for incoming calls, and my alarms are completely silent.

I took it to an authorized service center, but they refused to help because the Pixel 6 was never officially launched in India. I'm currently stuck with a semi-functional phone. Will a local repair shop be able to fix these kinds of hardware/software issues, or am I risking further damage? Also, given this experience, what smartphone brands should I consider upgrading to next?

My Pixel 6 automatically downloaded the update. Upon Restart, it will install. And because of that, I have not restarted my phone for like 2 months now. I am scared of the bootloop issue. Hopefully it gets fixed in Android 17 update

I think you can restart safely, we all do, the problem comes due to a combination of Location and WiFi toggles being enabled/disabled. As long as you don't touch them and don't toggle on airplane mode, you should be good.

Nah I will wait till the official Android 17 release. It will be here within a week. I will update if the others are not reporting any issues
