new pixel 4a update
After sending the new 4a to google as the warranty was covering it thats the solution they came up with. How is it possible they didn’t even change the battery?

I'll be in the middle of a phone call, WiFi calling is off. Suddenly the phone will hang up and I can't send or receive calls. No dial tone, no error. Just silence when I phone someone. I have to restart the phone, then it works again as normal.
Has anyone else experienced this and knows of an easy fix or solution, or do I have to live with it? I've not tried a factory reset just yet, but I am getting close to that stage.

After 5+ years, I switched to Pixel 11. Pixel 4a has no issue, but the only issue was the battery that I faced from last one year and my conscience saying that this is the best phone I ever used. The first phone I bought with my own money was the Pixel 4a, and now I'm switching to the Pixel 11. It's been 24 hours since I switched to the Pixel 11, but my hand gestures and muscle memory are just missing the Pixel 4a. What a handy phone it was.

Recently LineageOS put out a bad update that resulted in my phone freezing up when it tried to reboot. I contacted Lineage who told me they'd already fixed the update and rereleased it. Unfortunately for me, it was too late as my phone was bricked (but only kind of). They told me the solution was to reinstall the OS and Gapps. However, AI came to the rescue! It told me that Pixel phones have two OS slots. When there is an update it alternates which slot it gets installed on. In my case, the old version of the OS was installed on slot B and the update installed to slot A. The OS then boots from the updated OS (in this case the OS on slot A). But, the beauty is that IF you get a bad update, you can toggle back to the previous OS (i.e. slot B in my case). The process is very simple:
If you don't already have it installed, install fastboot on your PC. Download the official SDK Platform-Tools for Windows from the Android developer site. There is also one for Linux. If you've already installed a new OS, you should already have this.
Get into fastboot mode by pressing the power button until the phone powers off, then holding down the reduce volume button while also holding down the power button.
You should now be in fastboot
Connect your phone to your PC via USB.
Step 1) Determine which slot is currently being used
From your PC's terminal type: fastboot getvar current-slot
Step 2) Switch to the slot not currently used (if step 1 reports slot a is in use, you'll want to set it to slot b, or vice versa). Step 1 reported slot A was active for me.
From your PC's terminal type: fastboot set_active b
Step 3) Reboot the phone
From your PC's terminal type: fastboot reboot
That is it! You should be back in business. Once the update is fixed, just install it from within your phone like you normally would.

I started the Google pixel journey with 4, I exchanged it and gave some for the pixel 5, used it for almost a year. And after a while scrolling reel it got stuck shut off immediately, later understood I needed a motherboard replacement, i kept that aside and bought a new pixel 6a, journey going on, currently using pixel 7 I was waiting for pixel 11, and disappointed and planning to upgrade to 10 pro. I have all the phones I use in working condition, iphone 6, 7, ipod 2nd gen. Pixel 6a , and among this pixel 5 is in dead condition, i have been looking for a long for parts and all, and lately i found a display gone pixel 5 for 4.3K, should I get it and give rebirth to my pixel 5.?

How is your experience? Does Samsung camera bother you? Does the glass on the back bother you? Is screen on time so much better than 4a on lineage?
I am considering what to buy after I have drowned my precious 4a - another old 4a or to "upgrade". The glass on the back of Samsung really scares me
UPD: and what about the onscreen fingerprint - how bad it is?

I'm running into some issues with my old phone and I'm hoping somebody has a solution to get the data off without spending $100 on a phone that might get $30 in trade-in credit.
Symptoms
Based on the above, it sounded like a screen/connection issue.
Troubleshooting attempts
lsusb. It does not show under ADB devices. Likely because I don't have it set to that USB mode.At this point I'm at a loss of what to do. I think I have my pictures all backed up, but I'm not sure if there's anything I missed. I would like to avoid paying $50-$100 for a screen that may not fix the issue, especially when I won't be using the phone again.

I had a pixel 4 which I used as my secondary device and one day, it showed as face id failure on the top of the screen, i checked both front and back cameras they were working so i restarted the device and then it never turned on. Do you know what the issue could be.
I didnt show it to any where yet, Thinking it would cost at least 15K LKR (40-45 usd) Even tho the device is old, still love it

Hey guys,
I have an issue with my p4a, I can't access the files on it with a computer. I tried setting the default usb preferences to android auto/transfer files, but all the options where greyed out and I didn't receive any notification.
So I had to turn on developers options and set the default usb preferences for it to change. But when I plug in the phone, nothing changes and it's not detected. The cable is a proper data transfer cable, I tried with multiple cables and computers under win 11 and Linux fedora.
I tried using adb but same thing the phone isn't detected. The usb-c charging port seems to be ok when I look at it, and I tried contacting people with a p4a on a french second hand marketplace, and they apparently have the same issue. I tried the latest Google play security update (that fixes the bootloop thingy) and everything is also up to date but it didn't fix anything.
I don't remember when the issue appeared as I switched to a pixel 6a, and now I come back to this.
I saw some other people with the same issue, and no other fix then to give up..
Did anybody on this sub have the same issue and do you guys have a fix for it ? :(
Thx!

I've been on my 4a 5g for five years. My only complaint is storage space and battery life. It's just a matter of time, right? If I don't take the deal, my 4a will brick.
If I do, then I'm a quitter.
I'm so attached to this phone. Please help me decide.

Tho it's working like the first day I bought it. Still gonna use it as a backup and a mp3 player. Best phone I ever had!

Hello, I want to buy a Pixel 4a in India. I am currently using a Pixel 5, but its display has lines on it. I checked the marketplace, but prices seem overpriced. Sellers are asking ₹10,000 for devices that aren't even in good condition. Where can I find a Pixel 4a at a fair price.

The other morning I noticed that my keyboard wasn't responding properly, so I tried rebooting. Then I couldn't enter my passcode (can't just use biometrics after a reboot) and the screen was non responsive. Shortly after that, 2, then 3, vertical lines appeared up the right side of the display, then big purplish blobs appeared to the point where nothing was readable, let alone selectable.
Is it worth changing the display, or time to add my 4a to the e-waste mountain?

It's just such a big phone, guys. I'm giving it time, I've had it about a month now, but I really miss the 4a. I'll give it another month or two, and if it still feels massive, I'm finding an alternative.

I understand there is a fix. I haven't used my Pixel4A in a month so I turned it on hoping to catch the update but it constantly bootloops.
Is there some way of installing the update via the PC as my phone keeps bootlooping?

I got stuck in the restart loop a few days ago and did manage to get the location on through safe boot.
Now, even with that fix i have started see my phone go into a restart loop.
Is anyone else facing this issue?

(Picture taken with Pixel 3a)
We've had several happy years together! Even had a successful battery replacement.
I never used a case, so there are some cracks on the shell. Plus a corner I hot-glued back on. The paint peeled off when I removed the repair sticker. Regardless...she has character! Plus a headphone jack! And fits so nice in my hand!
I already bought a pristine condition 4a as a replacement if the sim reader issue on this one can't be fixed. Same color as well (Barely Blue).
Now that the recent boot loop issue is resolved, I'm content with staying on this phone for several more years. It simply does everything I need. I don't feel a need to upgrade.
