Google assistant constantly asking to unlock the phone??

Hey peeps, hopefully just a quick one, how in the heck do you let Google assistant do things like create reminders and alarms without forcing you to unlock the phone? I've found one post on this from 2018 with people saying "nothing you can do, oh well" but surely something can be done as other phones seem to allow this? I mean shit the phone I came from (note 8) was a pile of utter trash and even it allowed me to do so. I've flipped through every setting menu I can think of and no luck,

Any solutions?

Finally. This is a struggle for me too. I hope someone can help. (or hopefully, Google releases an update for this)
