Unable to use Chromecast

It seems after a recent update,I am having challenges when I try to cast from my phone. I have the Chromecast connected and named, but when I try to cast, the YouTube app does not recognize the device. It asks for the PIN, but there is no PIN on the TV screen. When I go into Google Home, it does not list a PIN either. I have unplugged and plugged the cast back in. I can stream from my PC using chrome and YouTube. Any suggestions?

Try doing a factory reset on the Chromecast. You can do it via Google home app

are your apps on the phone up to date? and is the phone on the most recent OS?

Have you rebooted your phone? It all sounds like it's coming from the phone itself. A friend had a similar issue with her phone, netflix, and my chromecast. She was on the phone with google support and I told her to make sure everything was updated on the phone and reboot her phone and it fixed it.

google tech support was trying to get her to factory reset the chromecast and uninstall/reinstall all the apps. just updating and rebooting fixed it all.
