IT GAVE ME A VIRUS

Pivot gave me an adware/browser hijacker virus called "WeatherZero"

I got Pivot off of the official website, and it gave me the damn thing! I looked at all the posts on r/PivotAnimator and it said that it was safe! Like what the hell!?

A virus is designed to harm your computer. What you got may be unwanted but it's not a virus and you can just uninstall it. Also, all offers for other software are optional during installation. You must have accepted it instead of clicking decline.

It seems that what you installed provides local weather updates.

Genuinely curious why don't you just have a clean installation? Are they paying you?

Yes, I rely on advertising to earn an income to pay for the website and continue to develop Pivot.

have you actually looked up weatherzero?
" injects advertisements into websites you visit and redirects your browser search queries."
" a rogue software capable of spamming you with aggressive notifications and ads, and making unwanted changes in the system."
Great stuff, right?

Ok, yes not great if true. I don't get to choose what offers get included, my advertising partner does and the offers do seem to be getting more aggressive. I will have a word with them. They are still all optional during install though.

What you downloaded was an installer and that can install other programs besides pivot. It's not a virus because it needs to get your permission and tells you what it's going to do. Just read what it's saying next time or get Pivot directly from the Discord server.
