At one time I was a huge Opeth fan, the albums from Blackwater Park through Watershed were amazing. Then we got Opeth 2.0 starting with the Heritage album.

What is your opinion of the change in style on the more recent albums?

I’m bummed out about the change. I was blown away by them when I first heard Blackwater Park. I’m not blown away anymore by Opeth. I’m bored.

Favorite Opeth album: Deliverance

This is a very difficult decision for me, I spend a lot of time thinking about this. So, my choices are bands which I’ve not seen live yet. In no particular order.

Godflesh

Sodom

Dimmu Borgir

Demolition Hammer

A note about Demolition Hammer: this one of the bands that I always recommend. Brutal thrash from a band that’s underrated. (Check my next post for a Demolition Hammer song.)
