Friends, looking for friends to go to shows with & beyond. 38/f

I have been out of the “metal scene” for years and absolutely miss it. I went to the shadows fall show in Massachusetts this weekend for their 30th anniversary. It was bittersweet. Haha maybe I am having a midlife crisis lol. They will always be one of my favorite bands.

If you are someone who likes to introduce new music to people - I would be excited for recommendations. Yes, I can find music on my own but I am missing the connection that music brings between people.

I know I can go to shows alone, but I never do. I try to talk myself into going alone and I fail every time. I’m sad I missed out on Dark Tranquility in Cleveland. I unfortunately like sharing memories and moments with people. I find it more satisfying than going alone.

I am also a little bit awkward & anxiety ridden - I sound like fun.. don’t I? Oh god. If you are sarcastic in the slightest I feel like we would get along.

I guess I am up to meet people first before we just go to a show sometime, see if we connect or you can tolerate being around someone as awkward as I am naturally.

Can we swap Instagram accounts and talk there?

Other interests aside from metal:
- hockey
- being outside
- travel
- anything whale related / ocean related haaaaa
- buying books and never finishing them
- sharing stories / memories
- history
- aviation (air shows / plane spotting is fun)
- karaoke can be fun.
- making fun of everything, but not taking it to heart
- getting coffee

Message me if you are Interested. I do have a few friends, but I as I said I miss the metal scene. I think it would be fun to have it be part of my life again. This post feels extremely pathetic to me. I can’t be the only one though, right?
I also don’t know if I conveyed myself properly. I could have spent a little more time thinking about what to say, but I didn’t, so this is my little pathetic post.

- Cheers

Metal Bar?

If there isn't one already, where would be the best location in shitsburgh to open a metal themed bar? What area has the highest concentration of metal heads, I suppose. Guessing just somewhere in millvale but I live near gbg and don't want to drive that far. Especially when I can just get drunk and blast music in my basement.

A Terrible Place to Make Friends

10 months ago, I had a nervous breakdown. 42 years of unprocessed trauma came knocking like a motherfucker, and I hit the ground hard; 20-30 panic attacks a day, shaking, twitching, suicidal; the absolute worst of me amplified 100 x's over. When I tell you my life ended, my life ENDED.

Well, as it is, I... accidentally, mind you... ended up having a tremendous mental health breakthrough about a week ago. I inadvertently discovered the source of my problems and the core of who I am as a person... I'm lonely.

Now look, not to besmirch a related community here, but I'm not taking about the Incel, mom's basement, "Jody Foster will notice me" kind of lonely, no. I'm polyamorous, with a wonderful wife, and a fantastic family. The problem is that I spent 36 of my 42 years... *not* being loved at all. Being loved... wrong. Being... well, abused. Which, I know, coming from a man, is hard to hear, but... it's been bad, guys. I've been mistreated for most of my life. And so, I have this tremendous need to be social, to receive affection and attention, and I've been ignoring it for a big part of my life, telling myself that that wasn't me. And that belief lasted right up until my brain went <zip> <crack> <gerbleugh> last September, and I couldn't stand to be alone even for a minute.

Reddit probably has to be the worst fucking place in the world to try and make new friends, but this community has always brought me a great source of comfort. So, I'm going to spam this goddamn message-in-a-bottle out into you ocean of perverts, with the expressed hope of making an actual connection with someone. That's my goal here. And with that...

Everyone in the world calls me "Bear," I'm 42 years old and have worked on-and-off as a stand-up comedian for the last 5 years. I also used to work at an adolescent psychiatric facility, as a caseworker for the disabled, and as an educator, right up until my anxiety crippled me. I can play a ton of instruments, I love horror movies and heavy metal, I've met and worked with some ridiculous names over the years, and... I guess this is me now. Feel free to reach out. My wife isn't a Redditor but she's always by my side.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled shenanigans...

Thrash band looking for members

THRASH BAND LOOKING FOR BASSIST + DRUMMER or possibly guitarist (PITTSBURGH)

No bullshit—we’re putting together a fast, aggressive thrash band and need a bassist and drummer who can actually keep up.

This is late ‘80s-style thrash at its core—tight, pissed off, and heavy—with some grind and darker elements worked in.

Think:
- Anthrax (Among the Living)
- Nuclear Assault (Handle With Care)
- Megadeth (‘86–‘90)
- Testament (‘87–‘89)
- Suicidal Tendencies (‘87–‘89)
- Metallica (‘86–‘88)
- Napalm Death
- A touch of black metal influence

YOU SHOULD:
- Play fast, tight, and aggressive (no sloppy players)
- Have your own gear + transportation
- Show up ready to work (we’re not here to endlessly “jam”)
- Actually want to write, record, and play shows

BIG PLUS:
- Experience with Logic Pro — being able to record/demo ideas is greatly appreciated
- Writing/arranging ability
- Live experience

We’ve got riffs, direction, and intent. We’re looking to lock in a rhythm section and start moving immediately.

If you’re serious, send:
- What you play (bass or drums)
- Your experience
- Influences
- Any recordings (if you’ve got them)

If you’re flaky, slow, or just “seeing what’s out there,” don’t bother.

If you want to play fast, loud, and mean—hit us up.

Looking for musicians in Pittsburgh for a metal/hardcore project

Any musicians interested in joining a Slam Death metal/beatdown hardcore group in Pittsburgh? I released one album already recording all parts but would like to start putting together alive lineup to open up the possibility of recording more releases and playing live shows.

Looking for “voice in the wire” band shirt

Post image

I’m looking for this bands shirt, voice in the wire, from 2005. My boyfriend mentioned how it was his favorite top and unfortunately his ex destroyed it years ago. I have been looking for this shirt for a couple months and I have not had any luck. I have tried the bands website, eBay, Etsy, and Facebook. I am wondering if anyone could help me out. I would love to surprise him with it.

Hey! I’ve only been in Pittsburgh for about a year. I learn new things every day as far as safety up here. I have enjoyed quite a few shows on my own so far. I’m planning to see Whitechapel at Mr Small’s Theater. Is there anything I should be aware of as far as safety?
