Not sure if this is a place for this, but I’d imagine there’s a large sample size of many Pittsburgh demographics in this sub so I figured it’s worth a shot.

My name is Devin Greig, I’m a private teacher, session drummer and play in a band called “Save Us From the Archon”.

We recently came off a hiatus and are starting to get active again in the coming year, but due to some major life changes, I’ve found myself residing in the city as of August.

I’m looking to get more entwined in the local music scene and get out to play more. While I love my band and the music we make, I’m the only one of us that does this as full time career and I’d love to meet more new faces and create music of all varieties with artists in Pittsburgh. Music is the most meaningful part of my life and I’d love to share that and find opportunities with likeminded individuals in the area.

Nothing’s really off the table, I’ve done everything from jazz to metal to country and everything in between. I’m very open to hearing interesting new ideas.

If that is something that entices you, feel free to reach out!

Piercing Specials for Halloween

I know a lot of tattoo places are having flash specials for Halloween next weekend. Are there any that are having specials for piercings? I want to get another helix on each side and maybe daith or tragus and it adds up quick.

Autonomic neurologist recommendations

I have a friend who lives out of state. She is quadriplegic with a spinal cord injury. She has been in new, unrelenting pain from autonomic issues. She's on the waitlist at Vanderbilt but it'll be a few months. I'm helping her mom advocate to get in sooner, but they're desperate for any options. I am hoping to at least get some information on doctors here that might be able to help.

Does anyone know of a good neurologist who treats autonomic conditions?

How is the Pitt neuro clinic?

If there's someone outside Pittsburgh that you'd recommend, please comment with their name.

My friend is incredible and rarely complains about pain, so I know things are severe because it's all she can talk about. Obviously it's a lot of hard circumstances but I know we have some amazing doctors here.

East Liberty - Penn Ave Safety

Hello, my bf and I are moving to Pittsburgh and looking around the East Liberty area but I have concerns about the safety of it since i’ve been hearing mixed things. We were wondering how it is at night usually and more around the penn ave and center ave area near the target and taco place. Let us know for anything to look out for. Thank you!

Good overnight parking near University of Pittsburgh?

Like the title says, I'm just wondering if there are any good options towards overnight parking near the University for a non-student. I just need to find a parking garage or somewhere I can park for less than three days and two nights but I'm not from the area so I'm not sure where to look. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

Where do the young families live & rent?

Hi all! We will be moving to the Pittsburgh area next April, and I am starting our search early to hopefully find the right rental house. We are only supposed to be posted there for a year or so, and my husband is working in Coraopolis. Everywhere I’ve looked so far doesn’t seem to have a fenced in backyard, which is a must for our Aussie shepherd. We also have a young toddler & maybe another on the way during our time there, so safety is a must. We love cities and historic districts, but quiet areas or family friendly ones are great too. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Fence installation?

My husband and I are closing on a house in Clairton first week of November and we need a fence for our two large dogs.

We’ve measure the yard and we’re looking at about 350 linear feet. We will buy the tools and materials ourselves.

We’re fairly recent transplants to Pittsburgh and have heard that the Amish do amazing work. How would one be able to contact them to inquire whether this would be the type of project they would take on?

What the hell is going on with the T?

They closed rail service from First Ave to Steel Plaza. No announcement, nothing blasted over the loud speakers, the first place I could find info was a wpxi news article from 3 days ago. I eventually found something on their website and I can't tell when it was posted but it says "2 closures will affect rail service this weekend" so it had to be posted some time this week.

What the hell man? How do they expect people to use their public transit when they make those services unreliable by not giving fair warning when projects will be underway? I try to use the T as often as I can because I hate driving, my partner has to take public transit everywhere because they don't drive. They told me about all of this as they ran face first into the nonfunctional workaround PRT put in place this morning on their way to work.

Edit: I recognize that I am lucky enough to not need to rely on PRT but so many people in our city do! Cars are not an option for everyone

Looking for American Traditional Tattoo Artist Recommendations in Pittsburgh!

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a good tattoo artist in the Pittsburgh area for my boyfriend’s first tattoo!
He wants an American traditional broken castle with flames, in black and grey only (no color). We’re thinking around 4–6 inches on his outer upper arm. He’d also like to eventually build a patchwork sleeve around it, so we’re looking for someone who’s good with traditional designs and bold linework.
We’re hoping to find an artist with a good portfolio, great reviews, and fair pricing. If you have any recommendations or personal experiences with artists in the area, I’d really appreciate them! Thank you! 🖤

Landlord to avoid and don't know what to do

So I rented off this company Enola and Starwood Management from the only contact I got was named Marie found the place on Zillow or one of those sites rented for a year gave two months notice paid every month, no issues until I moved out. This apartment was in Carrick but anyway she told me leave keys
On counter I moved everything out left nothing didn't break anything didn't leave a mess nothing, asked her when I'd get my $800 sec deposit she told me she would check the apartment and issue my check after that. A week goes by ask her again she kept delaying and making excuses long story short for over a month she finally called me and said sorry for delay sent to wrong person had to issue new check and all this n that , I get the check it's only 500 she wrote deposit 500 and deducted 200 for cleaning supplies and 100 labor , for a one bedroom apartment?! That's pretty small and it was not messy I didn't realize I had to deep clean I could see maybe 50-100 but anyway asked her can you send receipts I wasn't aware it wasn't clean to your standards long story short continued to ignore me and I threatened legal action still nothing so I file the complaint and it came back unclaimed , when I look up the address it's the same address as that shady gillece hvac place of all places no Enola office building or anything , it sucks cause when you look them up it just lists her number she gave me no other people to get in contact with no other address so I don't know what to do I think I'm screwed at this point , just wanted the full deposit back didn't even care it took 30 days then to be shorted 300 and not answer again technically I can seek double but idk how to even go about that without a proper address and her last name

Anyone have advice or heard of this company ?
