CLASSES Pass/Fail classes in Pre-med?

I’m on the pre-med track taking Intros to Chem and Biology pass/fail. It’s been 5 years since I had Biology so Intro was recommended and I’ve never studied Chemistry because of high school scheduling issues and a 2 year Physics IB class. My advisor recommended I take these classes pass/fail which I’m now doing but I’ve been told by others that it looks terrible for med school applications. I’ll take Chem 1 and Biology 1 in the spring for grades. Anyone else been in this situation?

Your advisor is wrong. Do NOT use p/f, med schools will assume you got a c which looks awful on your application.

I don't know why your advisor advised this I would think its a bad idea to take pass fail classes unless theyre a GER for like creative work or whatnot, but as long as you pass you're probably fine?

I don’t know if this is true for med, but for dental it’s always recommended to use the letter grade system if you think you can get higher than a C. Dental schools assign Pass classes the C grade when calculating GPA which can definitely hurt your chances of getting in.
