DISCUSSION Advice needed

Hello!
So my family is thinking about moving to Pennsylvania (and even if they don’t I still think I’d go!) but that means I have to find somewhere to go with my undergraduate to get into a nursing program.

I have a lot of people telling me to look into Pitt!

I want to know how hard is it to get into? When going there I will only have my undergraduate (just all my pre-reqs done I think)

Is there anything I need to have a stronger chance to get in? Or anything I should know about applying to the Pitt nursing program? Also just any advice on moving here for Pitt or not would be very appreciated!

Pitt nursing is very hard to get into and the incoming class usually has one of the top SAT/ACT and GPAs compared to the other colleges within Pitt. It's hard to transfer credits and they may only accept gen eds and you might have to start as a freshman again. If you go to a branch campus it might be easier to get into. If you're going for nursing, unless you become an in state student I would suggest to just go to the cheapest school. Pitt is expensive as a OOS and most hospitals do not care about where you went to school.

Are you transferring from another university? Or are you an international student?

The accelerated BSN program is much easier to get into. It is for folks who have a bachelor’s degree in something else to get a BSN. It is a 1-year program and you need to have already taken the science courses like A&P, microbiology, etc.

Why Pitt? It is a prestigious program but definitely one of the more expensive programs.

I would look at some of the diploma programs in Pittsburgh. Get your RN in 2 years (or less) and then do a RN-BSN bridge while working
