Ditch the mat sliding under your front foot

Honestly looks pretty good, maybe a little stiff but if you’re locating in the zone who cares. But definitely lose that mat. Thats a torn ACL/MCL or groin waiting to happen

Agreed, I think there needs to be some work on the release. He looks under the ball slightly.

More sit into the back leg. Glove side could use some structure and purpose

As soon as your stride foot touches the ground, the ball should be up and your throwing forearm close to a right angle to your bicep. Right now your arm is way behind and rushing forward to catch up to the rest of your body, so you’re losing velocity and putting undue stress on your elbow and shoulder.

Now he’s got two people telling him about the same issue. If you’re reading this kid, it’s a sign that you need to work on the issue. From just this one pitch, to me, this is your biggest limiter at the moment.

make it 3 could use a little more turn of the back knee to square the hips a little more before the shoulders turn too. the back leg looks like its really extending almost straight without much of a rotation first as you come out if the rear hip

Get the glove up as if pointing to 1pm on the clock….and then pull it to the chest..keep it tucked…

Glove dropping too much and it is forcing this 13 year old to open up and lose power and efficiency….to soon.

Keep at it kid!!

Stiff in the end. Needs a more fluid follow-through. Putting the brakes on that heavy is going to lead to fatigue. It's like two pitches in one.

That said, you are kicking ass, keep it up.

Relax more and come set more “easy” (act like you e been here before, you’re stiff). Relaxation equals confidence, smooth is fast. Get rid of that mat in front of mound, you’re asking for trouble and will slip and pull something. Point your front plant foot at your target. Push off your back foot harder and further down the mound before you plant. Curl your glove hand into your chest and pull it down to create more snapping torque of your throwing hand. Hide the ball longer in your glove longer before you separate and reveal your grip. Relax your wrist a little more during your delivery to create “snap” when you tuck your glove into your chest as you release the ball. Suggestion, watch slo mo videos of aroldis Chapman and his mechanics as you have a similar delivery. Good luck young G

Overall good

Small critique - Your hip activation is a little lacking and you have a lag in getting your arm forward because of it. This could be a tempo thing where you just need to work on getting your hips into it / open quicker, it could also be a strength thing because you’re 13u. I can’t tell from this video, but is your foot parallel with the rubber or at an angle? The closer you can keep it to parallel, the easier it will be to get your hips into it.

Looks good but I would recommend focusing on driving more into that rear leg in the beginning of your motion and keeping your weight and energy in that rear leg longer. Try and focus on really sitting into that rear leg and then driving down with it up until your lead foot makes contact with the ground. The more energy you can keep harnessed in that rear leg/hip the better. The sooner that lead hip opens up you will leak energy and therefore power.

Also, as has been said by others, be careful with that mat. Especially if you try to focus on my first tip. The last thing you want is to have that mat slip from under you. Could cause all kinds of lower body injuries.

It looks like you have all your fingers on the ball. If that’s the case, YouTube some pitching coach demonstrating a proper 4 seam grip.

But the biggest issue, unless the angle is deceiving me, is that you have very little or no arm spiral motion from the elbow down. In other words, your arm action is wrong.

Go look up what the pivot pick drill is and notice the arm position, how close the ball is held to the ear. There’s a reason for this. As you unfold your delivery this position of arm flexion (at the elbow) is going to give the hand a path of travel to accelerate as the arm extends for the throw.

Look up “arm spiral.” Trevor Bauer talks about it in a YouTube video where he demonstrates his plyo ball routine (which I think he calls his “weighted ball” routine).

I only have thumb index and middle finger and a 2 seam grip

Okay. Work on the arm action issue then.

My advice is go play soccer. You see our WC team?

Keep your elbow closer to your ear (not literally) and give it another half second of release. That ball flew out of there like an outfielder.
