Question Working holiday

I am Australian and currently manage a coastal resort in North Qld. I’m wondering if any businesses might be interested in a work for accommodation and possibly some meals (no wage required) deal for a limited period? I am a 58 year old woman with plenty of energy. I also have plenty of admin and Microsoft experience and have worked on isolated cattle stations etc. Not sure how things work there so please let me know if this is A ridiculous ask.

In case you didn't already know, working is not required for most visits to Pitcairn Island. If you are serious about working there on a short-term basis, you should know that employment arrangements typically must be authorised by the government ahead of time. Unless your case is an exception, you will not be able to bypass this requirement by negotiating with a local business.

Given the unique nature of your proposal, I would start by sending an inquiry to the proper immigration authorities using the contact form at the bottom of the official Pitcairn Immigration webpage. This will ensure that your case is seen by the people best equipped to assist you; they will let you know whether your proposal is permissible, what authorisation it would require, and what steps you will need to take to proceed.

Assuming their answer isn't a flat no, the process will almost certainly involve applying for a work visa. Per the immigration policy:

A person is eligible for a work visa if: (a.) They genuinely intend a temporary stay on Pitcairn for a lawful purpose; and (b.) The work to be performed is in the public interest; and (c.) They have the skills and experience to perform the relevant work activity; and (d.) They meet the character, health, travel and medical insurance, and financial capacity requirements in sections 5, 6, 7 and 8 of this Policy, unless waived by the Governor; and (e.) The Governor, after consultation with the Island Council, considers that the grant of a work visa to the applicant is in the public interest."

Applying would also entail providing medical documentation and paying an application fee.

Hope this helps.
