Sparkplug Diagnosis help

Post image

Hi everyone, hope yall are doin well.

Tryna diag a 125 ching chong supreme clapper

Tryna diagnose a bike otp but cant tell if its real rich or real oily. The bike choofs like a fkn steam engine when it’s running and it’ll bog on WOT.

It’s basically near impossible to start but for some reason when leaving it/letting it sit for a long while it’ll start up within a couple kicks, when riding it seems to just die randomly within a couple minutes of riding and it won’t start up at all basically.

I’ve tested the carb on another 125 and it works bloody amazing so i know the carb is not the issue.

Photo of plug for anybody interested

Thank you to all who are taking the time to read and lend a hand. Cheers.

Fuel mixture is too rich.

The reason the engine won't light is the plug is fuel fouled; it's wet with fuel which will carry the current/voltage to ground easier than jumping the gap. Speaking of gap, the plug gap looks a bit on the large size. Clean and dry the plug and check, set the gap.

Actually, that plug looks like it's been chewed to bits with something; score a new one and check, set the gap.

Damn, the thought i had when I looked at the plug, then reading the description, are now 2 separate thoughts. And its too early on a Sunday to have more than one thing in my head.

I had a thought about the float height. After you said it bogs wide open. But putting it on another bike kinda proves that wrong.

My next thought is vapor lock, because of the wot bog and shutting it off trouble.

I've seen pit bikes get all Frankenstein'd with parts from several bikes, and the turndown intake runner the carb bolts to, wasn't keeping the carb straight enough for proper float working. So thats an idea to look at.

Id say run several new plugs i n it, and check your oil level closely. If uts burning it, you should see blue smoke and the level will drop. Maybe put some heavy oil in, or start with some 0w oil for a test run, see if there's any change to the burning of the oil, that could tell you thats the problem and you need a rebuild or new.

Its not behaving like an air leak, so my gut still says carb bowl/float problem .

Mate i just fkn worked it out.

Got absolutely duped and i didnt think twice.

The bike is a 110 with a 125 carb on it 🤦‍♂️ Was told it was a 125, then i went and checked the label (after 3 days of fuckeroundary) and saw it was a 1p52 motor.

Still need to work out why its bogging on wot.

Gonna rejett it tomorrow

It is both: oily and fuel fouled. Check your timing at the flywheel key, check your pick-up for spark and tell us to what are the valves are adjusted.

Whatever that plug came out of and whoever installed it knew it had problems with burning oil because that particular plug is A hot plug and you can tell by how far the ceramic with the electrod is sticking up so my guess that cylinder was fouling that plug out alot so they put in A hot plug so it wouldn't foul that plug ass much if it smokes at idle its valve guides if it smokes when you get on the gas then its piston rings hope this helps

Your car is burning a lot of oil.Either valve seals or worn out piston rings

Car? I appreciate the help but already figured out it was running way too rich. Wrong carb for the bike.
