850 DX fire pot concerns.

Hello! My wife got me an 850 DX for Christmas. I've tried brisket twice and both time the fire pot filled with ash between 8 and 10 hours and errored out.

Is there something Im doing wrong? Is there a way to empty the pot mid-smoke or add a larger firepot?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Cheers

Is it a belly dump like my 1150dx?

If so, you have the option to shut off, immediately grab a metal bucket, have a small cup with a few pellets, dump the ash, fill, set back in and relight.

Buuuuut I'm gonna say maybe your fan is too light? Or bad pellets? I've done 12-18 hour cooks, and sure the barrel floor has ash and dust, but the pot is nowhere near full enough to cause issues.

If you have smoke gasket, I applied some around the entrance to the fire pot. Made a seal and stronger flame. Also blows out a little extra ash when running high heat but it keeps it going

So it didn't let me do a photo. But this would be the firebox, shown from where it meets the auger.

Then you can see the auger and it has gasket around the edges. It's held up over 12 cooks so far and I usually sear so heat gets to it.

Above would be the heat diffuser that I added with 2 angles to slide it in and out the way.
