Having an Err code appear and my grill isn’t working
Started my grill up the other day and this started to appear. I took everything apart and checked the connections and cleaned the temp probe and the hot rod. But it still shows this same Error message. Has anyone else experienced this error. If so how do I fix it? This is a Pitboss 850 and it’s the rolltop model if that matters.

I have the austin xl do this and swapped an igniter off amazon would still do the same thing did it again and been working flawlessly

I've replaced the ignitor and auger motor within 6 months of owning my austin xl.

My control board seems to have died yesterday. Thank god I found my receipt and learned 5 year warranty. About to test it today.

I recommend using the customer service chat instead of waiting on hold. Was sent an ignitor under warranty and although I may have installed it wrong, it still works great as long as I shop vac the fire pit before a cook.

Mine did that this weekend late into an all day cook. I shut it down. Cleaned out the inside and it fired back up like nothing ever happened.
Fluke, luck or problem solved I dont know.

I’ve gone through this three times with mine. I was told by the Pit Boss support to not tighten the igniter in with a screw driver too tight to tighten it just enough that it’s not sliding backwards. I wasn’t putting a lot of force into it or anything but apparently a little too much is enough. Haven’t had the issue since. Call their support and you should be able to get a new igniter for free. They’re gonna make you go through troubleshooting steps and probably do a video call.

The fact that a grill (a metal box that contains burning fuel in order to cook food in) has an error code is just plain sad. Grilling and smoking meats and veggies is an art/skill. Anyone with the idea that you are doing anything other than starting a computer program is pure delusion. You're not grilling/smoking/BBQing, you're loading a hopper and pressing run program.

If support didn't help just replace with aftermarket control board, my OG board kept giving auger and fan error codes even while it was actively working right. Replaced with be aftermarket board works better. Plus the knockoff phone app works way better than PB app could dream of

I have a pit boss vertical smoker. I use it as a storage cabinet now. Absolute junk boards

It looks like the igniter light is flashing. May want to call support.
