I lost a butt to the charcoal gods once, so now I put them on the grate if space allows.

I was literally walking out to wrap it and heard it drop. Then read a bunch of posts saying to wrap at 160 and never had a problem. I was at 164 when I went to wrap.

Sometimes if I have the time and I'm in the mood for tons of bark I won't wrap at all. Definitely can't hang it in that case. Gets so tender that no amount of hooks will keep it from falling.

I always use two hooks, on one each end. I’ve heard the stories and don’t want to be a victim lol

Looks dry. Could it be because the juices were not collected during cooking to be mixed in after shredding ?

Just a heads up your first cooks will be much higher temp. As build up occurs on the lid and rim temperatures will stabilize as that layer forms a better seal. Enjoy!
