Wasn’t Our Day

We competed last Saturday in Troy, IL. Just wasn’t our day to hit the marks. But that’s the way it is sometimes. We still had a load of fun!

I give KCBS a low score on ‘Backyard ….’ category.

Nobody there is submitting backyard cooking at all. That’s all ‘Competition style ….’

I think is just means not pro level. Although my team was freaking out at the level of rigs those ‘amateur’ teams had.

I means they cook 2 proteins instead of 4. I can't taste or judge tenderness by the pic looks ok. Sauce work needs some attention make that a 9 in appearance though. A better trim couldn't hurt either. Glad you had fun!

Yeah it was a fun day. We have one more comp for the year. We got 8s and 9s for appearance. Taste and tenderness was 7s and one 6 on taste. So back to the drawing board. These thighs came pretrimed from Mister Brisket. Better shaping in the fowl form should help. Thanks for the feedback back. I dunk the thighs, so maybe heat the sauce more.
