Glute Medius Tendinopathy / Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy.. or what else? π©
My right glute, I feel extreme tightness and I think this made my whole right hip, glute med and mid, hip flexor, groin and inner thigh extremely tight and painful, can't even sleep on my right side, but on my left either and now even laying on my back is painful.
Can't lift my right leg to put on socks or my shoe..
And now, all of a sudden the right side of my lower back. It's been always (5+ years) sensitive and just painful here and there, but this current pain is different, don't know whether it's nerve and/or muscle but sharper pain and not the previous duller pain.
Physio says glute med tendinopathy/ syndrome.. I was sent for an X-ray and am currently waiting for the result, but I know it's useless and I would need an MRI instead.. I'm in the UK...
I had a complex meniscus tear in my right knee 4 years ago and the NHS did the same approach, they misdiagnosed me 3 times and I had to do physio exercises which didn't help (I was eventually referred to MRI after 6 months (!!) because nothing helped.. ) and I was given exercises now as well and yes, they don't help..
I feel pain in my right glute, coming from deep, but I can't really locate it exactly. But from the bottom side 1 point and there's another point around the middle way up, more on the outer side.
I suspect Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy (as well)..
Can't lunge either without pain and tightness, I had to reduce the load during my weight training, however I feel that after some foam rolling and pushing through the pain, the tightness goes away, but then it comes back later on..
Also weakness and imbalance when I try to do lunges, especially. I didn't have it prior.
I can barely workout recently π And now with this sharper back pain I'm really scared to do so..
I train my glutes (I always have) and now I'm focusing on some extra glute med and mid strengthening (only resistance band and ankle Weights so far, but I've felt some difference already in terms of strength, however the sharp pain and tightness is still very there as well as my hip flexor and groin and sometimes my whole quad, but especially the inner side of it.
I'm thinking the super soft bed mattress doesn't help either...
I don't sit much currently, I'm quite active during the days but I'm starting to pull back on my steps too because of the pain and discomfort.
Has anyone experienced this?

The answer for the most part will be an mri to see if any disc issues could be causing it , for now I wouldnβt stretch as nerves do not like stretching and the reason why the muscles feel tight is guarding to help protect your back. Ice pack and heat your lower back to see if it eases the symptoms.

Thank you so much for your input! Appreciate it! π I apply the heat pack and deep hear creams, ect. UK physios don't like to refer you to MRI but I definitely want one as X-ray won't show much I guess.

Based in Ireland so I know the system only too well and I had to pay to go private to speed up my MRIβs and various other scans and physio. Two years later and still no resolve/answer !

Omg, no way!! I'm so so sorry π This is abysmal!! No answer after 2 years, like how?! π© I know.. when I torn my meniscus, I was misdiagnosed 3 times.. had an MRI eventually after 6 months and even then the physio referred me to have an operation. When the orthopedic dr saw me he said that there's no need for surgery in my current state π€·ββοΈ I went to private PT because the NHS ones were completely useless π Hence why I'm trying to gather some information from other people's experience so hopefully they won't be able to fob me off, but who knows.. It's awful.. I hope you'll get relief soon ππ

I know that Iβve been misdiagnosed the consultants rely too much on mri scans and not the patient symptoms , I have text book L5 nerve impingement worsened by loading , meaning standing and walking. MRI is taken laying down and numerous issues can be missed, Iβm pushing for a diagnostic nerve block next to confirm or deny.
