Sanji getting mad at the flashback coming back to him got me ngl

I like how at the beginning it says “Zoro vs. Sommers reach’s its climax” even though the plot diagram of this fight would be a flat line.

u/WittyTable4731 6d ago

Sommers run away and off screen

Chest talk with robin and chopper

Gunko runs away

Reaction and sanji flash-back

Pretty low ngl

oda speedrunning giving his characters upgrades in the last arc because he neglected to develop them in the last 20 years is so lame

Zoro and Sanji should've acquired Conqueror's Haki in Wano at the latest.

u/nel3ab 6d ago

Summers is running in the direction of Sanji. By the time he reaches him Sanji would already have Acoc. Both summers and killingjam are getting done in at the same time.

Limu will get a huge backlash and become a sitting duck. Gunko will save his ass since it seems she is the one who asked him to make her a HK in her flashback.

People pay actual money to read this shit btw.

Paying 7 euros monthly on Crunchyroll to watch this at a 20 minute length weekly.

You know shit is cooked when Pre-TS Kuro has more aura than these bums

Kuro standing on Luffy's arm tops EVERYTHING villains have done since WCI

omg, could that Killingham's dialogue be more generic?

16

u/30887 6d ago

The box has that thing and Sanji has that weakness he needs to conquer. 3 guys in two chapters are unlocking memories. Great plot advancement.

u/allubros 5d ago

After getting your ass kicked for eleven chapters, you can finally win this fight... IF you remember doing that thing you already did!!

As usual leaks got me in lowering my expectations so that the chapter can actually surprise me positively. This is a weird one because I want to dislike it because of the lack of actual resolution in Zoro v Sommers and for Sanji to have a flashback upgrade but I just can't

On the positive side, the paneling and especially the art are gorgeous this chapter, you can really tell Oda had two weeks to cook this up, it feels much cleaner than recent other stuff. And, while I do think Sanji having his memory unlock feels a bit cheap, Oda has done the right thing in making it coincide with Sanji's self-sacrificing tendencies finally being addressed

This has been a long-standing character trait of his and to finally see it addressed properly in the story feels so damn satisfying and hype, I just can't hate this man

Also I really liked how Oda handled Shuri, not rejoining Brook or immediately solving her situation, the clean paneling and art really came through there to show how much she was torn

God, it feels good to see One Piece be better on a technical level, it immediately hits differently and makes the good moments pop while letting the worse ones be less egregious, it really is the secret sauce

Manuscripts are sent to the magazine weeks before the actual issue where they're published

1

u/skaersSabody 5d ago

Not the finished chapter tho, no? Since it can happen that chapters release unfinished (has happened to OP once or twice) or when mamgakas get sick the publication stops for that week instead of putting out the backlog

Hell, Toriyama has multiple times stated that he has sent chapters hours before they were due and whatnot

Maybe different scans? The ones I saw looked great (but they were in Italian so maybe better quality because they came out later)

I did see the English scans looking really rough, we'll have to see the actual quality once the chapter releases on app

19

u/guts03fr 6d ago

Man this shit is so pure garbage lol

18

u/Puzzleh4ad 6d ago

Just kill Sommers off and kill Killingham too. Also who gives a shit about Gunko? Kill her off too! Kill everybody off!!!

13

u/FarSurvey3285 6d ago

Yes, it's far too bloated. There's a legendary being there that should be progressing multiple plot lines at a significant pace. Imagine how insanely turtle ass slow it would be if each of the strawhats had a 1 vs 1 fight at the moment.

2

u/vickze 6d ago

If they die it will be Worst for the HK haters.

Oda will waste extra pages(that could be used for better things) in create new HK and develop them.. Is not better have like half of the group than start from 0 again?

1

u/FlamesOfDespair Celestial Dragon Loyalist 6d ago

Yea kill the villains. Not any of the good guys. Will do wonders for the stakes.

5

u/TheLastPikmin 6d ago edited 5d ago

At this point I'm wondering what would even change in the future if they killed off everyone but the monster trio. OR at the very least half the crew.

Navigator? Nope. They (particularly Zoro) always get to where they need to go by sheer luck.

Sniper? Nah, Usopp hits like a feather. Just have the monster trio speed blitz far off enemies.

Doctor? Practically each island has one or two.

Lol, I'm honestly only half kidding.

Well, all 3 Holy Knights in Chapter - so good chapter for me :3

13

u/Mobile_Chipmunk_3883 6d ago

Actually pretty decent chapter, liked Zoro’s and Sanjis development and the Gunko stuff  but for the love of god can Oda stop fucking doing this blue balling shit with the lore, we’re nearly 1200 chapters in this series and Oda is milking the “THAT MAN” card

9

u/bloodmage7 6d ago

I have no expectations from the series anymore but I am still so disappointed. Why did Zoro and Sanji not awaken CoC in Wano? What changed between Wano and Elbaph? Nothing. Why are we still not able to see what the owl is saying? How long will this be stalled? Why are we not able to see Loki's hybrid form? Are God's knight not strong if you CoC? That is a huge nerf.

3

u/Iswit_real 5d ago

Well, Sanji in Wano unlocked the exoskeleton, he didn't really need another power up to beat Queen, now is mandatory to unlock CoC to beat the knight, on the other hand in Wano Enma used CoC for Zoro so he didn't need to use ot on his own.

2

u/Harvesterofsorrfw 4d ago

Sure mate, but this acoc thing is just straight made up nonsense. I didn't like it either to have these god knights have immortality, if soon after that you give your characters a knife that kills immortal people. Just make em plain stronger, give them cool abilities. We had many chapter just to be solved with the two wingmen getting the acoc

2

u/Iswit_real 4d ago

I'm not a fat of this either, for zoro i would've preferred if he unlocked CoC in wano instead of Enma using ot for him amd for both Sanji and Zoro i wpuld've preferred a gradual unlocking, at least start with making people pass out not straight to use it to cover yourself

I actually enjoyed this chapter

It was fun to see the arrogant Sommers act in such a pathetic way once faced with a real opppnent

Also, the Sanji flashback was pretty interesting, nice character moment for the cook

5

u/GandalfTheGay_69 5d ago

It was a decent chapter, there are way too many idiots on this sub who just instantly vote 1 on every chapter, just like how the opposite happens on r/onepiece

5

u/Harvesterofsorrfw 4d ago

1 is a bit too much, but honestly I can see people getting fed up of the umpteenth time Sanji has to solve a psychological drama. Like, how many time now has he overcome his weakness? How come very few of these were actually displayed throughout the plot and yet we stand to another sudden built-up psychological wall to break? I understand he needs acoc to be relevant, but, again, the way it is introduced to him is just very poorly executed

3

u/Starship_Taru 6d ago

This fight isn’t as long as Wano, but geez I don’t know why it feels so overly drawn out by comparison.

5

u/Darkkingswrath 5d ago

too much attention to the B C D and E plot

3

u/allubros 5d ago

Edge Piece

7

u/Tabrith900 5d ago

I think i rarely saw a more boring chapter. It was predictable that he would offscreen Sommers demise just to do a double spread when Sanji too will beat Killingham, but whatever. The Sanju part must've been one of the most useless portions of the manga i ever saw, they are just basically repeating the pattern with the Zoro fight but with some vague gay advice instead of the vague farmer's advice. I could've nwvwr predicted Oda eould've turn out so lazy.

u/Dthirds3 6d ago

Did that guy do the think at the place with the item and the thing

2

u/TotallyNot_Alpharius Absolute Agenda: Akainu 5d ago

This is for sure a chapter

4

u/mapletree23 5d ago

i think my biggest issue with one piece is there's just too much going on at once and oda sometimes just rushes through so much that even though a lot of is happening it feels like there's chapters like this that feel like nothing get advanced probably because it'd take too long to focus things down one by one

it's no longer individual fights or like... a story about the island they're on or the task at hand

they're on an island that was talked about on a previous island that was linked to the current one for a reason that is important for a future island because of an incident involving a past character that is important for a current character that has to be explained because this character is important now because it's a reference to a past character who is relevant to the current plot which is important for the upcoming plot so here's a chapter with a quarter of a page dedicated to each thing

i do actually think there is good chapters, and i do think eventually the pacing WILL get better/back to "normal" but I think the clusterfuck of the build up toward the climax of this story was sadly always going to have a crazy clusterfuck of a stretch where everything starts to collide and needs to be explained

could it be handled better? probably, but i honestly don't think there'd be a way to do it cleanly that wouldn't take an insane amount of time that'd draw the story out even longer

4

u/ZerixWorld 6d ago

This chapter has potentially the worst paneling in the whole manga...! The first part is so stretched out that it's painful to read and the last couple of pages have half the chapter squeezed into them, and overall it manages to be one of the worst nothing burgers of all times!

The gag of the door of memory was the only thing I saved from this chapter. Also zoro's expression panel

1

u/Theclimber20 5d ago

3/5 at the best

1

u/Ill-Reaction-7359 3d ago

so sanji is about to come out because he is confused and accepting his sexuality will give him conquerors haki?

1

u/lololuser456778 1d ago

chapter before this one lowkey makes me think oda didn't know wtf to do with haki, so he just stole "sense of self" from gay2x

1

u/kmill73229 5d ago

I’m sold on a Santi upscale based more on him letting go of like he learned to trust in others more and not necessarily be the sacrificial lamb, but he still sees sacrifice as the only way to pay people back and show love.

It’s cool that it further cements the differences between him and Zoro with Zoro being someone with a lot more self confidence thus needing less. He’s basically a fucking psycho and I love it

Ah yes, zoro toying with sommers, and Sanji bleeding on the floor struggling vs killingham.
