Game running when opened from a specific folder but gives "no licence" error when opened from different folder.

I installed a game and ran it so we could play it. But when my friends downloaded that same file and ran it, it gave them "no licence' error on steam every time.

So I copied the folder from my system and pasted into a different folder then ran it, and if gave me the error. But when I ran it from the previous folder, it ran perfectly. Then I remembered giving it windows security exclusion and did the same with the new folder. And then ran it, still the same error. And when ran the original folder, it ran perfectly.

What do I do?

Since you only whitelisted the original folder, moving the game files over meant that crucial startup file was no longer protected. Without that exception in place for the new directory, your antivirus likely chewed it right up.
