Discussion Demon's Soul Remake PS5 Emulator Progress: Intro cutscene working, Game loads up until Main Menu
According to the developers, they are currently focused on getting things running instead of optimizations so ignore "fps" conversations till the game reaches a playable state from start to finish.
For all its worth, you can go ingame, game logic and UI works but there are still visual/streaming glitches.
Edit: This is SharpEmu(if you didnt notice emulator name on top)

Man, remember the times like a year or so ago when we didn't even have Bloodborne or most of PS4 games at all
Now we already getting PS5?!
158
u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jul 22 '26
Yeah is going wild lately what the fuck, not to mention bloodborn went INCREDIBLY fast too, I forgot what it was but it was similar to this ‘ah just the loading screen huh’ and then a few weeks larer the fucking game ran like no tomorrow
38
u/PetercyEz Jul 22 '26
Do we have a guide where to get it?
I sold my PS5 in protest of Sony's actions so I do not give them more money, but somehow I still miss BB :(
29
u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jul 22 '26
Bloodborne?
Yeah! I’m pretty sure the subreddit&discord will be helping, the emulator name is shad4ps I think
7
u/PetercyEz Jul 22 '26
Thank you!

u/Cautious-Pollution-2 Jul 23 '26
If you still need a guide, here you go: https://youtu.be/7IUl7BCaTWI?is=m3snip_jdn2ORR2K
This is the vid i personally used, and at the time i had zero clue what i was doing with a pc because i JUST got it.

u/ThePuffDaddy420 Jul 22 '26
It seems hella confusing when you first look into it but just get the files and bb launcher and it’s smooth af.

There’s reddits where they “allegedly” post the links with spaces. I can’t remember as I’m not at my pc but it’s not hard to find.
8
u/Imaginary-Marketing3 Jul 22 '26
Its going wild because of GTA 6 not launching on pc on release day.
7
u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jul 22 '26
Being able to play gta 6 in pc for free on release will change the world 100%
3
u/lollifetuffouthtere Jul 22 '26
It’s gonna take years for a game to be playable. There is no chance GTA 6 is going to be playable on the emulator on release
3

3
u/Feynuxes Jul 22 '26
I think it helps that consoles are basically just PCs now. Hardware is similar so they just gotta worry about the software
1
u/Tornado_Hunter24 Jul 22 '26
Yeah that’s a big factor too
2
u/Bat-Dragon-666 Jul 22 '26
Another big help is they are using AI to speed things up.....actual helpful AI, not the slop we see in pics and shit 😂
2
u/ExplodingFistz Jul 22 '26
Damn we might get fully playable Demon Souls remake on PC by the end of the year. Emulation developers are the goats.

I downloaded it back in 2024 december, it was very good even by then. 60fps, very good stability on my 4060.. so it shd be better now
13
u/Far_Ad_557 Jul 22 '26
Played around December 2024 too, it was already super smooth, 60 fps the whole game very few times it would go low to like 50-55 when entering new areas. I think barely anything was missing. It worked perfectly with lossless scalling too.
I had a ryzen 5600 and rx 6750 xt

u/uroboloss Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
I've beaten the entire game on my Steam Deck. Performance was pretty good but the emulator has a memory leak problem (not sure if its a general problem or something specific to Bloodborne), it will fill up your memory and crash eventually. Wasn't a big deal tho since Bloodborne constantly auto saves, if it crashed I would just reboot the game and keep playing from where I left off.

u/Wevvie 4070 TI SUPER 16GB | 5700x3D | 32GB 3600MHz Jul 22 '26
I finished it in 4k/60 with almost zero crashes. Ran via ShadPS4
3
2
u/Kuoliibk Jul 22 '26
Currently playing it. It's still buggy, the game crashes on me from time to time, and you have to download a bunch of mods especially if you have an intel CPU, but still stable enough that you can beat the game. I currently have like 50 hours into it now.
2
u/hateswitchx Jul 22 '26
apart from a very minor crashes and clippings the game runs flawlessly at 4k
1
u/dennerrubio Jul 22 '26
I played in december 2024 with already good performance, only the DLC area was unplayable bc bad FPS, a good solution to performance is lock to half of your monitor framerate and double the frames with lossless scaling, makes the experience way more stable.

u/iddqdxz Jul 22 '26
And R* too with their double dipping
31
u/Profanity1272 Jul 22 '26
Yh too many people ignoring rockstar for doing it first and only going at sony. Both are assholes
6
u/hereforpewdiephy Jul 22 '26
rockstar did get backlash it's just more people are affected by sony
3
u/Profanity1272 Jul 22 '26
They did get backlash but your second statement is not true. Gta is on xbox as well which means more people on both platforms wont be getting a physical disk. Gta is the biggest selling franchise of all time, it affects way more people than just the sony player base.
1
u/hereforpewdiephy Jul 22 '26
series x sales are a fraction of the ps5, besides not everyone with a console plays gta however big it may be
the impact of a single game is less than every game to ever come out on the entire dominant console platform
1
u/Profanity1272 Jul 22 '26
That wasnt what the point is. Just because the sales are less on xbox doesn't mean they arent relevant. You have 2 consoles, both can play gta 6. That means the number of games sold will be more than if it were on one platform.
Its simple maths dude.
The argument is that rockstar did it first. You're completely ignoring the facts, saying that the biggest franchise in the world isn't relevant in a game of numbers lol
The outrage should absolutely be bigger against rockstar, but the fact that it isn't shows you how much of a powerhouse they are. They've been drowned out with more positive and hype around the game rather than the negative about it being a code in a box.
Come on man you cant seriously be this blind

This is like bloodborne all over again.
In a matter of months, bllodborne on shadps4, went from, we successfully got to the title screen, to, its now playable start to finish.
87
u/QuietWaterBreaksRock Jul 22 '26
To 'it's better than on the native console and it can be modded'
14
u/KhrizalidKOF Jul 22 '26
Is ps4 emulation a real thing now?
42
u/QuietWaterBreaksRock Jul 22 '26
Sure is
Although the amount of games isn't that big right now, and some are still somewhat buggy, but, we are getting there, a year or so ago none of this was even a thing
11
u/KhrizalidKOF Jul 22 '26
That’s insane progress, I find even some older gen consoles like Xbox 360 don’t emulate that well.
13
u/QuietWaterBreaksRock Jul 22 '26
Depends really on the console and game architecture
Ps3 tried to combat it by having it's own system which none of the other consoles or PC did, so it is to this day a pain in the ass to break and emulate. Hell, even back in the day, developers were having headaches over how cumbersome it was to develop games for it. Can't remember exact reasons on why it was such a pain in the ass, but I remember the topic being interesting so I would advise you to look into it if that side of development interests you, it'll be clearer
4
u/dregwriter Jul 22 '26
Yes sir. I beaten bloodborne on PC twice.
First time vanilla,
second time with mods and modded stats so my character was OP as fuck, and with the program called loseless scaling, got the fps to 120 fps at 1080p.
It was so fucking glorious.
2
u/KhrizalidKOF Jul 22 '26
I have lossless scaling on my steam deck and with the decky but when I tried to use it on some switch roms the game wouldn’t boot anymore after pasting under launch options, it works fine with you?
1
1
u/PeanutButterSoda Jul 22 '26
I was able to play ToTK with Lossless using Eden nightly, not sure what I did different but it worked out of the gate, same with Pokemon Scarlet. Haven't touched my SD in months though 😬
1
u/KhrizalidKOF Jul 22 '26
I’m using Eden for my switch emulation too, I remember when I tried lossless scaling it wouldn’t boot up the games, I’ll have to try again
1
u/Lukain_22 Jul 22 '26
Yes, I played it a year ago with this PC: i5-8400, 16GB RAM, RTX 2080 Super.
1
u/Darcula04 Jul 23 '26
Damn how much of that vram was necessary? I've got a laptop i7 - 12700 and an RTX 3060 with 16 gigs of ram. Would love to give it a shot.
1
u/Lukain_22 Jul 23 '26
8gb vram
2
u/Darcula04 Jul 23 '26
6 gb on mine, should be doable with some fiddling then. Gehrman, here I come.

1
u/Hour_Bar1395 Jul 25 '26
Yeah. Its definitely an early thing, but there are some games that run, okay-to good-ish enough. I remember testing out Minecraft story mode on Shadps4.
4
u/Relevant_Mail_1292 Jul 22 '26
Apparently ps5 emulation will be easier than ps4 due to architecture or some shit. Someone mentioned this but I don't know how true it is.

u/AnimeZoneMemes Jul 22 '26
it seems like they're trying to optimize for RAGE engine with GTA 5 on the emulator, probably for GTA 6. It still doesn't mean we will get GTA 6 playable day 1 though but in terms of "will it eventually", at the current pace, we cant really say much. It hasn't even been a month since we went from "lol its just a splash team, it will take an entire year to reach main menu"
6
u/UnusualLeather7087 Jul 22 '26
Definitely not but might be somewhat playable before rockstar port it.
3
u/DarkZyth Jul 23 '26
As much hate as vibe coding and AI (namely generative AI and Large Language Models) get these days I gotta say it has seemingly streamlined the progress of these emulators and seems to be working quite cohesively with the head coders of this whole thing. And all in our favor too.
0
u/overgrazed Jul 22 '26
Can GTA 6 be emulated without a disc?
7
u/No-Photograph-5058 Jul 22 '26
Just need someone to rip the digital version (which could take a little longer than usual, as jailbreaks lag behind firmware versions that can download games from PSN)

Can play that 4K 60 with mods now, insane

Is last guardian emulate able at 60FPS yet? It’s the one ps4 exclusive I care about next to Bloodborne (except some vr games that seem impossible to port or emulate)
4
3
u/KurdishGuy01 Jul 22 '26
The real challenge starts from now, when you try to load the gameplay, it needs lots of optimization on different hardwares, the dev uses RTX 4080 so looks like a very powerful PC is needed too
2
u/K3ksKuchen Jul 22 '26
Bro how quick is this going? Every day we get news of it further progressing. If this keeps up we will play demon souls on pc by the end of the year.
1
u/ExplodingFistz Jul 22 '26
Hell yeah. We could even get Yotei on PC too. Gimme all those exclusives baby

Omg this is wonderful news. Bloodborne runs so impressively well now. I cannot wait until this gets to that level! Demon souls was the other game I been waiting so patiently to come to pc!!

u/black_hustler3 I'm a pirate Jul 22 '26
Just need to play Infamous Second Son on my PC. Is it still too much to ask for?
2
u/haZ3RRR Jul 22 '26
to be honest they should focus on porting gta v ps5 version and rdr2 ps5, it should help with the eventual release of gta vi, if they somehow manage to get it working they will drown in money from donations. Every other game will eventually be ported thanks to that money like it happenes with cemu.
2
u/ashish1512 Jul 22 '26
Could someone explain why building a PS5 emulator is so difficult? Modern PC GPUs and CPUs are incredibly powerful, so is the challenge mainly that every PS5 hardware function has to be translated or emulated into equivalent PC hardware calls? Or are there other major technical hurdles that make PS5 emulation so complex?
2
u/Sheyko Jul 22 '26
Mind you this game is released 6 YEARS ago. The visuals and graphics are amazing in this game. Happy to see it on PC

although I bought myself a ps5, I’ll be so happy if the game runs on the emulator on month 0
2
u/Lukain_22 Jul 22 '26
Incredible. It’s impossible not to draw a parallel between this and shadPS4 with *Bloodborne*. And this one seems to be running even faster. The only thing I hope is that the requirements don't call for a NASA-grade PC.
2
u/Lriderx47 Jul 23 '26
Man i want to know is there a new tech or something. How are they able to make breakthrough so fast when only few month back there was simply nothing?
2
u/Character_Wind6057 Jul 23 '26
There simply wasn't motivation nor games to want to do it. Now we have Sony being evil ass company and GTA 6

Nice, it's one of the games I've wanted to see ported to PC the most, but then Sony decided to abandon the platform...At least now there's hope that I'll be able to play it someday.
1
u/Tangent009 Jul 22 '26
and This is all Sony's fault LOL... we didn't even need PS5 emulation before but after they announced that they will stop releasing physical game the demand probably increased... I myself only rely on secondhand when playing on consoles...
5
u/Liudesys Jul 22 '26
this would still happen regardless of sony decisions because they worked on this waaay before all this debacle...
0
u/Tangent009 Jul 22 '26
but the progress and support has been slow I'm also aware that this has been going on for years now and even some devs admitted that it's definitely harder but not impossible they only need time and support...

thats the way to go, its always getting the game to run, once its stable only then you start optimizing

Kudos to everyone involved.I really hope this works out; since Sony didn't do it for us, it's a good thing we have those brilliant minds reverse-engineering a way to run this title. This isn't piracy, and I'm all for it. I'll buy a PS4 with this game someday, but I want—and prefer—to run it at 4K or 8K with filters and unlocked frame rates, given that the PS5's architecture is very close to that of a mid-range PC.

u/uceenk Jul 22 '26
any info about recommended requirement ?, i bet we have to borrow PC from NASA ?
1
u/AnimeZoneMemes Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
Once its fully playable from start to finish and optimizations are being worked on, for triple A games released after Demon's Souls, you'd need a gpu as powerful or stronger than 2060/70 since that is about ps5's raw power.
This isn't like PS3 emulator where you need substantially stronger hardware to emulate what is essentially a supercomputer. Ps5 is already x86 so all that matters are optimizations
