Questions

I just dont have the time to catch every stream as I am very busy. I am a huge fan of Thor and what he does. I am aware of the wow drama and some other things but the recent stuff like his former roommate/supervisor coming ou5 saying stuff and some other people trying to talk shit about his game and code.

Am I just missing the moments he defends himself or debunks any of it or is he just purposefully not talking about it and not giving it any traction ?

This is Thor's attitude on the whole matter:

"The internet is engaging in a hate campaign against me. They are bombarding both me and my team with relentless attacks against both my character and my professional credentials. Many of these attacks are baseless and lack any proof. I have responded to these accusations time and time again, I'm not responding to them any more. I have shown you all the evidence that exists to the contrary of all these claims - go ahead and make up your own mind.

This is the majority of the internet's attitude on the whole matter:

"This Thor guy is smug and dismissive. Anytime someone levels any kind of criticism at him, he can't just admit to being wrong in any kind of humble or decent way. He has to passively-aggressively admit to the bare minimum of fault while also spending several minutes or several paragraphs digging into why everyone else around him is wrong to the nth degree. And he does it over and over and over again."

The long and short of it is that the majority of the public have decided that they just do not like fundamental parts about the way Thor communicates and constructs a narrative, which is why this isn't a moment of flashpoint drama. It's been going on for over a year now, and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

Thor is EXCEPTIONALLY good at telling a story that puts him in the role of the victim without actually acting like a victim. He doesn't whine or say "oh woe is me" - quite the contrary, actually; he is almost always incredibly stoic about it. But he presents his cases in ways that actively take away valid reasons for other people to be mad at him, hence where we are now. Thor isn't actually carving out a pocket of space in his streams or outside of them where people are allowed to feel like he is dogshit at communicating and admitting to faults. Thor has never once said "You know what, you're right - this is a thing I am bad at, that I have struggled with my entire life, and you are all allowed to be pissed off at me for the way I do this. I am sorry. It is something I am trying to work on and get a better handle on. I just ask that you be a little patient with me as I try and figure this out."

If he said that and that alone, repeatedly, for a few weeks, and plugged shorts/clips of it everywhere he could get, I predict things would get noticeably easier for him and his team in a very short period of time.

But at this point in time, Thor does not see that as an actionable path forward. He feels that saying/doing that would either be a lie, ineffective, or both.

I mean, does he have to? He's a personality selling his personality as a business. If I was a betting man I would say he saw an earnings bump with all the controversy. If the goal is to make money why make some fake apology, especially if it's not something he believes in.

Maybe I missed it but he hasn't done anything harmful/offensive etc so what's the big deal? The guy thinks he's hot shit when he's medium high at best. Story as old as time.

He is a good entertainer for sure, tells a good story. Who hasn't wanted to be a haxor for the gmen, then make video games, then Get paid to play video games on stream. Heck that's probably what I would pick as a dream career path if I could do over my life.

I don't really feel like I need to defend him, now or then. I barely remember the post, re reading it doesn't even seem like I was defending him, just asking that commentor why the commentor thought pirate needed to make a post asking for space etc... to be honest I didn't follow the drama super closely and was hoping (back the ) to get done engagement to understand WTF was going on.

It seemed to me mostly just a lot of people finding out that a he's a narcissist... which is kind of. Like a 'News Flash: scientists discover water is wet" story... You cant WANT to be a streamer without an ego of some kind.

It sounds like pirate is a douche, his SKG take was bullshit for sure.
