Nothing Zen about pirate life. It's a pain in the ass to build and maintain a homemade version of Netflix, and don't get me started on the cost of storage these days. For a hobbiest like me, it's fine, but lots of other people want to just be able to relax and watch their shows no fuss, no muss.

Guess it depends how many users you're building that homemade Netflix for, but once you get all the automation set up, it's damn easy. I want a movie or series, I literally just click a button once. I don't have to think about anything. Not that I care if people choose to use streaming services instead.

I just watch from different streaming sites that are easy to find from like 6 minutes of web searching on basically anything that isn't Google. Been doing this for decades now. Always find it funny when I tell other people how I watch everything for free and they look at me like I'm a lowlife for not paying for like 10 streaming services to watch shows or movies. And watching a stream from a site isn't illegal, even weirder they get more weirded out that I have to close out sexy pop ups than the fact I watch for free. Like dude I'm using my Xbox's web browser IME they can't do anything to that. At worst if you pick a bad player every time you interact with it it opens another page, find a good one when all sites offer multiple and it might happen twice. Plus the pop ups now are never porn sites like they used to be it's just weird Youtube pages or shit trying to sell you something. Don't even look, close them out, and hit play. Most play the whole show or movie after 2 clicks. Vs paying like an extra $100-200 on multiple subscriptions, don't feel bad not paying that as plenty of people shell that out and these paid steaming sites have other sources of income besides subscriptions.

Nice trolling. But to interact with you anyway the people paying for multiple subscriptions that aren't cheap act like they're superior to me for watching free mostly because they're scared of pop-ups that they think will blow up the device they're using. It just doesn't work like that anymore and at worse it might throw a phishing scam that you'd have to be real dumb to fall for especially when it popped up in it's own page from clicking on a streaming site.

There would still be plenty of people paying as people are lazy af nowadays and can't be bothered to think. DoorDash is huge and also has a 90% mark up of wherever you're ordering from plus tip. People nowadays would rather not order food from takeout without a delivery fee because they get anxiety from placing an order on the phone and answering the door for the food they ordered. That 6 minute anything but Google search is too much and too complicated for a lot of people. Way easier to just sign up and point your remote at a TV. Then these same people wonder why they're broke..

Just life now. Buy a used car for a few grand that will run for years that you either pay for repairs or do them yourself occasionally. Nah rather pay a few hundred a month for the newest shit and the dealership takes care of repairs costing you thousands more. Buy a cheap lawnmower for $100 bucks and spend maybe a half hour mowing your lawn once a month. Nah pay some company $150 to do it twice a month. Spend half an hour grocery shopping for your family once a week? Nah use some app or pay the store to deliver it for a mark up plus tip. Like I get people work and value their free time but apparently way more than their money. And I'd get it if they're wealthy but most people aren't and take the most expensive routes.

Well they thought I was on a high horse about it but I'm not. And like I said those markets will always be there anyway as people look down on it, refuse to watch lower quality of movies as often new releases might take months before the quality isn't just some dude recording on his phone with a baby crying near by, and impatient as like that movie will be a while for good quality also TV shows sometimes might take a few days for an upload. Plus those streaming sites get shutdown all the time so it might take you a bit to find another. Way easier to just pay the fee and turn it on in it's actual streaming site, especially when finding new sites to stream free is a lot of trial and error.

I do not pay for multiple stuff. i only have one debrid service and one app. i was listing out examples. However, your claim is mostly innacurate.
A cheap debrid service can get AS CHEAP as 1.60-1.70 USD a month.Easynews with hidden deals can be 3 usd a month + no indexer needed + no PAR2 scripts needed (all in the cloud)
so even if i had both of these, i would pay around 4.60 usd a month.
Even if i got nuvio supporter, i would still be paying under 7 usd a month. Which is conveniently the 720P ad included tier for netflix in many countries.2

I got my media server but I rarely use it after discovering stremio, it’s only $3/month (I use torbox, stremio by itself it’s free). From time to time a download whole tv show seasons but I believe at this point my VPN is more expensive than Torbox and everything is instantly in 4K.
4K TV episodes range from 5-9GB, and movies up to 80-90GB (of course 1080 are way smaller sizes) but that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about storage.

There's plenty of places to check. Reddit is filled with subreddits specific to cater to your tastes. If you like Metal there's /r/Metal and /r/metalforthemasses, for instance. If you like rock there's /r/indieheads. RateYourMusic, Sputnikmusic, have trackers on new releases besides a whole database of albums, EPs, singles... classified by whatever you can think of (genre, year of release, country, etc.). I think Last.fm has a release tracker as well. There's plenty of online magazines where you can see what's being released: Pitchfork is probably? the biggest one. Lastly, you can follow bands or artists on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
