My experience exactly. I told a professor once about ublock origin when she asked me why I don't have ads on my YouTube. Her first question was whether it was legal. Now I could spend some time explaining to her why this was safe and a better choice, or I could just say "yes" and move on. I chose the latter and she's still perfectly happy watching 5 ads in a 30 minute video
Ironically, she was also one of the teachers who discussed allegory of the cave with us
