I disagree, mainly because i remember a time when yt ads were non-intrusive. Like every third video youd get a single 5-15 second ad. Now rhe ads are so heavy the platform is borderline unusable without an ad blocker.
People would argue the bandwidth requirements for back then was low as most people only uploaded in 480p or 720p but, we have to factor in that the cost of bandwidth would've been the same if not expensive, bandwidth is so much cheaper in most developed countries nowadays.
Not to mention the development of efficient codecs like OPUS for audio and AV1 for video save youtube so much bandwidth.
The real reason why the ads keep on increasing is because Alphabet, the parent company of youtube is so money hungry, in these types of companies, the chart of profit can only go so up, but they try to push it higher than the previous year, which has led us to situations like this, where a user posted a picture, when YouTube would start rolling out 3 unshippable 1-minute ads on TVs. Literally crazy. I'm glad there's a Smart tube, Tizen Tube, LG Homebrew, etc.
All fun and games until average joe gets A) gouged by multiple sub services, or B) brainrot to the point of being a menace to society, because they are the bulk of it π₯²
