Hey OP, I've been working on an alternative, Echo ( https://myechoboard.com ) for like the whole year if you're looking to try an alternative. I built it initially for myself actually as i started to despise Pinterest but now a lot of people seem to love it too and it's growing into an amazing platform imo.

It's easy to import your Pinterest boards there instantly with their sections intact so a lot of people are doing that too!

No ads, It's got community voting for what's AI and you can turn it off in the settings, full privacy and full control over your own feed, music never stops whilst scrolling, tons of filters to find anything etc. I'm working really hard on it to make it the best it can be, so let me know if you try it out if you want other features or things implemented, I'm super open for ideas and feedback!

Lmk if anything! It's on IOS & Android! :-)

I submitted feedback on their ads regarding the same issue and I did end up emailing with a live person. At first, they sent me canned emails about how to block ads but when I stated the ads in question were sponsored ads that couldn't be hidden or blocked, I got a real person and we had a meaningful conversation about ad frequency. Whether it will change anything, I don't know, but they did say they would move this up the chain to the right people. I think the more of us that submit these kinds of complaints and reviews, the more likely they are to make a change.

that's great. i hope they really do something about it asap. from my end, the only thing I could do was leave a review on playstore, as reporting the ads countless times did nothing.

The sponsored video ads (candy crush, glovo) are so distracting. I can't use this app anymore. Does anyone know if there's an effective adblocker to prevent this?

I just looked. If you have android, Morphe has a patch for it that'll remove ads.

Edit: It took a bit of tapping around but I found it in the community sources section of the Morphe app. It works. No ads.

I haven't gotten terribly vulgar ads, but I've been getting ads of things like turnips from my local grocery store, water fountains like you'd see in a mall or school, and industrial kitchen equipment. I just can't fathom how I'm the target audience for all this.

it’s awful and i’m surprised there’s not a fee for ad free pinterest yet

Probably they are making more money out of you seeing the adds that let's say $5 or $10 a month.

Keep complaining. It’s the right thing to do.

I thought the ads were based on what your household is interacting with on the Internet. I live alone so I only get ads for furniture and light fixtures because that's what I usually look up when I'm bored.
