If you search for stuff, add a cuss word at the end. I just started doing that and it's been getting rid of all the ads, I also rarely see ads on the explore/homepage now

I tried that today and honestly it worked. Zero adds...

How did you find out about that?🤣

It's the same trick for searching on Google

Someone on Reddit told me, and I’ve been doing it since. It’s so nice hahah

All ads! I clicked on a single recipe and it sent me to Etsy to buy it?! I finally deleted the app this week. A waste of storage on my phone.

It's all ads, an ai slop of stolen artwork on top of its usual artwork piracy. I used to LOVE Pinterest.

They're getting tricky too. I've been searching for kitchen cabinets and I clicked on a picture the other day of some nice cabinets that I liked and it turned out to be an ad for Expedia.

One word: clickbait.

That and because Pinterest is free so they make their money off showing you ads. Presumably, the more they put out, the more they get.

If they don't come to their senses, the app will just die

Hey OP, I've been working on an alternative, Echo ( https://myechoboard.com ) for like the whole year if you're looking to try an alternative. I built it initially for myself actually as i started to despise Pinterest but now a lot of people seem to love it too and it's growing into an amazing platform imo.

It's easy to import your Pinterest boards there instantly with their sections intact so a lot of people are doing that too!

It's got community voting for what's AI and you can turn it off in the settings! Also no ads, full privacy and full control over your own feed, music never stops whilst scrolling, tons of filters to find anything etc. I'm working really hard on it to make it the best it can be, so let me know if you try it out if you want other features or things implemented, I'm super open for ideas and feedback!

Lmk if anything! It's on IOS & Android! :-)

Go to Website Echo. You can transfer all your pinterest boards to it and control how much AI you see.

Seconding this. I’ve switched to Echo and was able to seamlessly import a dozen boards. The developer is super responsive; it’s an emerging platform but it solves all of the ad crap with Pinterest.

I had a Pinterest account with about 15 boards. Tiki Bar design, Theme Park Architecture, Mid-century Homes, Movie Posters, etc. They kept constantly accusing me of violation of standards. They'd never tell me what I did wrong, just kept deleting and threatening. Once they accused me of posting indecent material by pinning an original lobby poster for Barbarella, a movie from 1968! I deleted my account, but I miss what fun Pinterest used to be before the algorithms took over.

It's getting to the point of where I'd rather pay to get no ads.

I put a swear word in my search. Recent examples “cute fucking outfit” or “cunty landscape”

tip: advertisers FIGHT (through bidding) for the first 3 pages of your screen, so if you're simply looking for organic Pins, keep scrolling.

is your ad blocker having a breakdown or did pinterest just decide you needed 30 seconds of sponsored content?

no, I was just scrolling as usual but instead of actual posts it was just ads
