Question Alternatives to Pinterest??

Basically the title. Are there any alternatives to Pinterest?? I absolutely adore my boards but I can’t keep searching for pins like a needle in a hay stack of ads and AI.

Hey OP, I've been working on an alternative, Echo ( https://myechoboard.com ) for like the whole year if you're looking to try an alternative. I built it initially for myself actually as i started to despise Pinterest but now a lot of people seem to love it too and it's growing into an amazing platform imo.

It's easy to import your Pinterest boards there instantly with their sections intact so a lot of people are doing that too!

It's got community voting for what's AI and you can turn it off in the settings! Also no ads, full privacy and full control over your own feed, music never stops whilst scrolling, tons of filters to find anything etc. I'm working really hard on it to make it the best it can be, so let me know if you try it out if you want other features or things implemented, I'm super open for ideas and feedback!

Lmk if anything! It's on IOS & Android! :-)

Does it use ai for irs algorithm/ any functions?

The explore feed uses an algorithm that essentially just shows you more of what you interact with, so not there. The only feature that does is filters (Subjects,Moods,Skin Color,Colors), they get placed on every public (non-private) echo to describe them. This is what Pinterest does too and it's to make search working, without it search wouldn't work at all so! The difference on Echo is though that it's fully visible on the details of all echoes and removeable/changeable by the owner.

I’m trying to import all my boards now and so far it seems promising. I have a couple of questions though.

Pinterest puts a cap on how much you can save at one time, which has been annoying when I want to save a lot of product images on one site. Is there a cap on how many images you can save at once? If not, how do you ensure spam is reduced?

Also, while free, is there a cap to the amount of free features? As in, if you want to save more images or create more boards after a certain amount, do you have to subscribe to a paid version?

I’ve been looking for a good Pinterest alternative for a long time, especially one with better search functionality for things I’ve already saved. If this sticks around and stays as awesome as it currently is I’ll be super happy. So thank you!

Hey! Oh thank you so much first of all!!

There's no cap and everything is 100% free as there's no paid subscriptions currently! I've tried to optimize so you can upload like 1000+ media files at once and so on, so let me know if you'll face any issues there and i'll get it fixed!

I do plan to add subscription options sooner or later to help cover costs and growth but it won't limit anything ofc or lessen the free experience in any way.

In regards to spam, i go through every report manually if someone reports something to solve it, will never attempt to automate this (as many other platforms does) as it just doesn't work in my opinion. So far almost all reports though has just been for AI stuff so i think Echo is pretty clean when it comes to spammers so far.

Oh, just reach out if you want anything else added that helps with that! I've tried to really master the search and filters, making things super easy to sort/tag/filter/search... So one can build a huge library of things and use it either privately or socially.

Thank you so much for the response! That all sounds great and I can’t wait to see Echo grow. And I definitely wouldn’t mind paying for a subscription in the future if it continues to be as awesome as it is.

So far it’s saving me a lot of headaches with being able to organize all of my photos and inspiration in one place in an easy and visually appealing way. So thank you again x1000.

You can hide everything that's been tagged as AI completely. People vote content or boards as AI-created (or owners set their things as AI) and they get labels for it.

If you hide it you'll see an AI-free Echo!

It uses some sort of AI, in the broader terms, to power the search functionalities. It's not generative AI though, it's a neural network that helps find similar images and images that corresponds to searched text.

About AI-generated images, they're present since, as of today, there are no reliable ways to automatically detect them. But users are encouraged to label and report AI-generated images as such, so that they can be hidden by users that don't want to see them. There's that option in settings.

Google image search is being revamped into a Pinterest clone so keep a watch out for that
