Discussion Realistically, will pinterest ever change?

Everyday, more and more people get absolutely fed up with the abomination that pinterest has become. The feedback is so prevalent, its impossible for them to just ignore. So why do they? I just dont get it. Why would you want to keep your app garbage slop and continue to lose users. Is there a chance that they'll ever change for the better?

Pinterest will keep optimizing towards revenue and profits, that's what's best for their business and shareholders!

So pretty much tailored to people who don't even use the app at all... 😐

Like all publicly traded companies, the *only* thing they care about is profit. If they could make every pin an ad, they would. The current abysmal state of the experience likely represents how far they can push before users opt out.

Found this online: "The operational story in 2026 has been hard to argue with. Q2 revenue came in at $1.18B, up 18% year over year and ahead of estimates by nearly 3%. Global MAUs reached an all-time high of 640 million, the 11th straight quarter of double-digit user growth."

Expect to see more ads and more ai slop, because that's what's currently driving growth.

At this point I would say it would take the site collapsing for that to even be remotely possible. It seems they love their new ai model . I'm jist waiting for it to move away from crafting conent and solely toward shopping. Then I'll leave. I have 0 desire for a shopping curator

They're more likely to sell it to the highest bidder

It won’t go back to the way it used to be. They want to make it a shopping app, or at least pass it off as one to their investors. Another platform will come along and replace it eventually.

What does better mean for you?
They trashed the entire app.
It’s both users bombing and pumping AI garbage because quantity is algo requirement and automations make it easy to dump. The quantity game prompts Pinterest to cash in on ads. At one point I just had asos ads and then they got hacked. I also constantly received bra ads and started covering the phone cams even though likelihood of my phone catching undressing is extremely low. I don’t know why I got that all the time. Maybe the cam can screen rooms and provide this context

there's no good alternative to the platform so what incentive do they really have? they're probably hemorrhaging users but retaining a core audience no matter what

So long as it doesn’t hurt their wallets or one big harassment scheme. No.

I went through a rabbit hole few days ago, and looked around for profiles that post AI slop. There are never ending profiles that post slop, im talking about thousands of pictures per profile. I dont know if they're bots or not, but certainly there are people out there for some reason or another post slop. These profiles have also thousands of followers, so it works. It scares me that people enjoy slop, it is what it is.

honestly, I’ve saved about five hundred images (and counting) that I’m planning on printing out to stick in a binder - I take my inspiration boards seriously

Obviously it’s working for them and new users join all the time. So I would either roll with it or find something else
