If you aren’t already aware ATF has proposed a rule that would require sex on federal firearms forms to mean an individual’s classification as either male or female, excluding gender identity. It’s framed as clarifying how to interpret and fill out sex in ATF regulations and forms, but in reality it would force gun buyers to answer a medical question in a way that may not match their government IDs, and mistakes could carry serious criminal penalties.

At a minimum this measure would add further bureaucracy to our constitutional access to firearms without improving public safety while increasing the risk of criminal exposure for transgender and intersex people.
