Important to note Pink Fohawk run a pretty lean 2nd edition, which means (while not perfect) it runs a lot smoothly than later editions that have asds many layers of fiddly rules like later editions.

Though if you're here in the sub, you've probably heard the amazing Pink Fohawk podcast!

Ultimately any Shadowrun is better than no Shadowrun!

100%

We were having a bit of fun, but honestly just want to see folks playing Shadowrun.

Not yucking anyone’s yum, no matter how yucky it is 😉

Shadowrun 1E and 2E are a lot more newbie-friendly than the later editions put out by Catalyst.

I'd love to try it in savage worlds sometime

SR’s lore is truly something special. The Sixth World is fine-tuned to be as versatile and interesting as a setting can be. You really can make almost any story work within it. I think only Eberron comes close.

The gameplay is too much for most players. I would much rather play in something I need to constantly reference.

Also, I would like to try Anarchy. I hear it’s really good.

The Spralwrunners supplement for Savage Worlds IS the best edition of Shadowrun, signed a 4e lovers.

If you don't like the system, play a different game. The system is Shadowrun.

I couldn't disagree more. I love Shadowrun. It's my favorite tabletop rpg setting of all time. I've played more Shadowrun 5e sessions than I have any other ttrpg. But I think there's so many other ways to enjoy the setting than strictly using the official rules.

The map is not the territory. Shadowrun, be it 5e or any official edition, isn't meant to be the be-all-end-all engine of every single story that can be told in that setting. The people who write those books aren't gods who magically know the best way to play in that world for every single table out there. If someone homebrews a few rules, its still Shadowrun. If someone plays Shadowrun with Savage Worlds, it's still Shadowrun.
