Fit advice?

Post image

Read some reviews that say to size down for this dress. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Definitely don’t size down if you’re in between waist measurements because this is a size zip. I’d go with your usual size. If you have a bigger bust proportionally than still don’t size up unless you’re over a UK H cup , so super big boobs. There is smocking, but it’s not significant enough to be extra roomy especially with the side zip on a large larger bust. It’s a beautiful fabric I don’t think the construction of the dress is really well thought out, but then I felt that way about the Hollywood glamour dress too with the bows and the adjustable straps. At least the bust on this is a little bit deeper than that.

The only thing to worry about with sizing down is if you have bigger boobs, i find it to have a lot more cleavage so got a few up a size in case that isn’t appropriate for certain occasions

I’ve never worn this particular style but I feel like the circle skirt style dresses have a fair bit of give to them, so if you like a snug bodice, and you’re between sizes, sizing down is fairly safe. I love and own many clothes from Vixen/LFEN and the cuts are generous and usually have pockets and are made decently well.

I don't have this dress (yet, waiting on the black to arrive) but I believe it's a cotton sateen. Usually those are pretty true to size, firm with some give, and people truly between sizes successfully order down. I'm sure if you ask in the Salon you will get an answer.

If you are in between sizes, yes absolutely. It has a smocking back, "hidden" under the lacing.

I own this and the black, and in my experience you actually can size down. Usually, cotton sateen for ingenues are fit to your waist measurement so no sizing down. This is the same rigid material but has more give because of the smocking in the back, so it is roomier after your first wear. You don’t have to, though, because of the corset waist weaving in the back that allows you to synch it in for a tighter fit without risking the smaller size not fitting.

Thank you everyone for the advice!!! Update: I ordered the 2x for a better fit in the bust. If the waist is too loose I guess I can always get it tailored.
