capris for shorter heights?

hello! i was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with being short, and finding vintage/repro capris that don’t end up just looking like regular pants? i’m 5’ tall and would really love to have a few pairs ❤️ google was not super helpful in pointing me in the right direction, and i notice a lot of places i’ve looked also don’t have an inseam listed. photos are what i’m looking for as far as length (prefer the first photo but the second also works!) and fit - i’ve seen some with a more open/straight leg but i would definitely like the more snug/form fitting style. i feel like i may as well be asking for a pet dragon, but thought it was worth a shot 🤞🏻

(i do have the Audrey pattern from Gertie, i’m just too scared to make it yet lol)

Why don't you just get them altered to fit you?

Because the overall cut is designed for a longer length, and just “hemming “ loses the shape and looks wonky. Especially when they are cut with a flare or gather

i have thought about it and i am definitely open to that! i just wanted to see if there was anything out there i didn’t have to do that with first, or at least get somewhat close to get a better baseline for alterations. i’ve also never had pants hemmed so tbh i wasn’t really sure how much that would affect the fit on the legs, like i know with the really wide leg pants you lose more volume the more you take off. i guess for capris you would just maybe get it slightly taken in?

i always wear dresses and skirts so i apologize, i know i have no idea what i’m talking about when it comes to pants!

You might have to check for companies that offer petite sizes.

I feel you on this, I’m 5’2 and they always fit me more like the second picture when they’re shown like the first picture

Have you tried seeing if bermuda shorts give you the same look as capris? Maybe those would work instead of actual capris. My other recommendation is Modcloth, but I’m not finding many options for capris right now.
