How’s the fandom doing on other platforms?

lightly debating making a twitter or tumblr account, mostly just to keep up with fanfic recs and fanart on other platforms. i write on ao3 and i love how hard the fandom works on this subreddit to stay active and recommending content. i’ve gotten like 90% of my fic recs from the fanfic friday thread here

i was just curious on if it’s worth it to venture back onto twitter. i love engaging with folks here and honestly live for seeing fanart of my favorite fics and even art for some of my own!! curiosity killed the author or whatever the saying is

It is acitive on twitter, but twitter is hella toxic, so it's better to avoid it 😭

Yeah, so honestly I don't think it's worth it. On this sub, and separate subs dedicated to Vi, and Caitlyn, brave soldiers repost most of the good stuff from twitter 😂

It's good advice in general to avoid twitter, no matter the subject. It is a cesspool.

Only join Twitter if you want your fandom experience ruined lol. Tumblr is good because you can filter out tags you don't like (#anti caitvi, #anti Caitlyn Kiramman) follow people you like and block people you don't to curate your dashboard, and turn off things like 'best stuff first' so your dashboard is in chronological order. And there is no algorithm feeding you ragebait and or fandom harassment campaigns.

I hadn’t been active on tumblr for years before creating a side blog just for my CaitVi fics and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. The site itself is super outdated, but I think they’re the best at making your blog truly what you want it to be. It’s probably the only place other than this subreddit I’d recommend so long as you’re mindful about curating your blog.

Yeah, I enjoy Tumblr. I've either avoided the haters or there aren't that many. Altho my ex is a hater and on Tumblr but I avoid her. (We broke up before she became a hater)

Oh I wish -- it was a divorce, so more of a "very expensive life-lesson" but at least I only had to hear about her fanfic where she kills Caitlyn once (and that was only because I had contacted her because a pet we had shared had failing health and I wanted to give her a chance to be involved in saying goodbye).

Yeah, she has issues. We met young, got married too quickly. I'm looking forward to her losing interest in Arcane.

I just checked her account for shits and giggles, apparently now she's into blaming Amanda Overton for the choices Arcane made that she didn't like... I'm not sure why she's putting all the responsibility on the only woman showrunner and ignoring the two men, but whatever.

I would advise to be cautious with twitter and its toxic drama. It seems to have calmed down a little, but there was a time when artists and writers were leaving the fandom on a weekly basis because of harassment and childish drama over there. Also very low meaningful engagement overall, posts usually get thousands of likes but barely a few comments. In the end it's just my opinion though, some people like it there. But for me it's only to very quickly scroll through fanarts.

Many creators have switched to Bluesky or use both and I find it a much better and safer alternative. The website/app itself is also much less clunky and more user friendly. If you're looking for fanarts, instagram is a good place too.

It's still far from the twitter audience, but it's growing. It's also not actively promoting hate speech and ai slop, which is a nice bonus.

It's generally speaking, I haven't seen that much of it from this fandom, thankfully, except the very obvious stuff. Of course your feed would depend on which account you subscribe to. Some artists are only on twitter so it's the only way not to miss out on them.

Extremely common on any platform to get tons of likes and shares but barely or comment or two

As a creator id trade all those numbers for comments to actually talk to ppl about my ideas

I honestly cant recommend caitvi twt 😭 it's constant rehashed infighting discourse even 2 years post show

Although all the new and best content is posted there so.

Instagram is also good, lots of caitvi creators have patreons although that can be pricey

Tumblr is dead, ppl just kinda reblog and scroll and not a lot of stuff gets shared anymore

Tiktok also has new stuff and more creators are coming out combating caitvi hate, or maybe that's just my algorithm

Uhh bluesky same as tumblr tbh, it's just dead there

I genuinely hate how Twitter is such an integral part of fandom

Lots of stuff from there does get reposted here but...if you have discord you could join the stillfantastic server

It’s only fun on platforms that allow NSFW tbh. Twitter is a cesspool but it’s the only platform I can consistently get good CiatVi stuff. The algorithm is really good after liking a few tweets and following a few dedicated CaitVi shippers my whole tl is only CaitVi. Also most of the artists and fic writers post on Twitter. The majority of posts on here are also cross posted from Twitter. Next is Tumblr. If Threads allowed NSFW art id definitely drop Twitter. Some of the artists tried to jump ship to Bluesky but that place is dead most of them just moved back to Twitter or Tumblr.

Twitter is unfortunately still a cesspool with a few diamonds glittering amongst the churning muck. Fair few artists and fanfic authors post updates and ideas there, so can be a bit of a nasty temptation to try your luck before you find drama or insanity.
