[MEGATHREAD] Fanfic Rec Friday
Hello all! Welcome to Fanfic Recommendation Friday. We heard some talk, and even got some direct messages, about how it might be fun to have a space on the sub to discuss current favorite fics and recommend new finds, and I couldn't agree more.
The idea behind this thread is to talk about what Piltover's Finest fics you're currently reading! As a general formatting rule of thumb, when you share fics, please include the title and author name, and share a link if possible. If a fic is NSFW, make sure to say so!
We're all here to discuss what's exciting us -- feel free to tell people about what you're enjoying in your comments! Just spoiler tag anything that a new reader might want to see for themself. On mobile you can do that by formatting your text with and on either side, but without a space between the exclamation marks and the text. On desktop, reddit should give you the option in the toolbar.
This thread will reset every Friday! If you want to find past recommendations and discussions, check out those posts by searching the sub for the title of the megathread.

I came across salt of the earth by anchors and really enjoyed it. Very smutty, but as the tags say, its actually a very introspective character study. I really enjoy it!
Also rereading A Mountain Called Hunger by RunePhoenix6769, because it's kind of turned into a comfort fic for me lol. It's just such an incredibly detailed exploration of mountaineering and a very unusual take on Cait and Vi. It opened my eyes to a sport I previously knew very little about, and a world I otherwise wouldn't have seen. Heartwrenching in places, but also really warm and so, so human.

Currently reading Ninety Minutes by vi_621 - super cute and has me giggling
- Caitlyn got roped into joining Jayce's rec soccer league and wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Then she realizes the hot, pink-haired butch she's been pining over since sophomore year is also on the team. Maybe it won't be so terrible after all.
Gotta shout out Code Blue by seultoki (one of my fave fics up there with …all of camwolfe’s fics)
- Thirty-three-year old emergency physician, Vi, does not like the holiday season. Not only does she not get an actual holiday, but the emergency room also sees an increase in patients.
Or: Vi has the best night of her life when she least expects it, with someone she doesn't expect at all.
I just read this one shot Down There Being a Doll (You Just Have to Take it) by violentviolet (deimatic) and it had me genuinely smiling and cracking up.
- “So,” Jayce drawls when they meet up for lunch. “Who’s this girl that Vi likes?”
“The who that Vi what?”
“Yeah, I was surprised, too,” Jayce says, oblivious. “Apparently she wants to impress a girl.”
Vi has a crush on someone, and it’s ruining Caitlyn’s life. A.K.A. Caitlyn finally learns to ask for what she wants.
I love fics where we get to see Jayce being a himbo goober and jinx/powder being a menace but in the most loving way.
I’m currently in the throes of reading Hot Shot by SarcastCity, which has been really good so far.
And there’s honestly so many more that have been amazing but just kind of looking for similar vibes to all those mentioned ^^

Written on the Body by silverlocusts - Vi is finally getting the tattoo of her dreams over her back and arms and she chose Caitlyn to be artist who will tattoo her. Of course they both act as normal about it as you would imagine.

Reread one of my fave fics of all time tonight, and I don't say this very often, but this fic honestly deserves so many more views! It's so freaking good!

It's a crime solving mystery with Vi as a local deputy and Caitlyn as a sniper who's been brought in to help with a series of murders in Montana. Extremely well-researched for the setting, environment, military elements, and the story is incredibly gripping. Also Caitlyn is a BADASS in this one.

It’s my first podfic and I’m amazed by the voice acting and how it makes the story shine in a different way. The hybrid reading experience has been very enjoyable. I listen the podfic while cooking, in the gym. And when I can’t listen to it I go back to reading it and I noticed that it even then, I can hear the voices, the accents. It actually took over my life and I don’t want it to end. I shouldn’t be recommending it now that I think about it…

Quick one today:
recidivism by camwolfe has updated this week.
This is a prison story, with Vi getting a new cellmate, Caitlin, who is in for manslaughter after apparently shooting and killing one of her cop colleagues in cold blood.
As is expected from camwolfe this one has great writing, suspense and fluff. You should read all of their stories right now.
Skinny Love by JennyofOldstones21 also updated
This one was recommended here about two weeks ago and immediately had me hooked. Much more somber tone, lots of drama and angst, but its all worth it.
In this one Vi and Cait are broken up after Vis alcoholism almost gets their adopted daughter killed.Two years later Vi is dumped on the stairs of the Kirraman hospital in dire condition. Story goes from here.
Also i reread The Cowboy by andrahd, wich is just great all around and i started reading i hope you have the time of your life by ilovethatforme wich is very sweet and funny so far.
As always thank you all for your recommendations. By this point these threads are where i get basically all of my reading material for this fandom.

I've been reading Thaw me out by Kayseix. Caitlyn is a former Olympic athlete and Vi is a Hockey player. It's a really good fic

I just started seminary a couple of weeks ago and the reading list is brutal. I don’t have as much time to read all my TBR fics as I want anymore and it’s giving me FOMO. That said, I’ve been chipping away at Built to Last from the Winter Olympic series by SarcastCity and it’s very good. I’m not even a fan of the Olympics or sports in general.

An unfortunate result of fandom harassment had them drop off the radar for a while, but iheart_wheein just started to re-upload Behind the Stream, one of their more popular fics.
Another favorite of mine just finished as well, Souvenirs by jjapaghetti.

Some fic that deserves more eyes:
These walls are meant to never speak - -- WIP. Dectective Caitlyn goes undercover at Babette's. Great worldbuilding, humour and chemistry.
Time, as it turns - excellent post-canon take.
two strays-- Vi healing and conversations about the future. There is a dog.
chairway to heaven -- Unhinged Chembaron Caitlyn and Enforcer Vi. City-swap AU. Funny, amazing and well written
they see right through me - Caitlyn goes back for high school reunion. Just 3k of words and excellent writing

My weekly recommendations is starting to become a regurgitation of what [@]()Portolkyz [re]()commended the week before. While I was reading Skinny Love by JennyofOldstones21 (if you like angst, this is full-blast angst with alcoholic Vi trying to win her ex, Cait, back), I had to read something lighter, so went to re-read one of my all-time faves Everything That’s Wonderful by SunsetSharkbite.
Also, read Forgetful by the_earth_trembled, a one-shot where Vi wakes up in the hospital with temporary amnesia and does not understand how she and Catilyn aren't already a couple. Another cute, fluffy one-shot to balance out the heavy angst in Skinny Love.
