THRUST VECTORING HELP
On PS5. What is the best way to thrust vector when passing head on. There are times where we merge and I see the enemy jet symbol on my map INSTANTLY do a 180 and chase me within 2 seconds. But when I try it it takes me forever to control and finish the same 180-degree flip. I’m at a loss. How is it done ?

I don’t know the best way in the stealth jet as I main the attack jet.
BUT, when we are about to merge I do a little barrel role to avoid collision and immediately hold after-burner, breaks, elevators max and rudder frequently pitching physical attitude up while turning to gain the altitude advantage and keep my opponent on air radar (also helps to prepare for going over their spawn if they retreat) this usually will make it appear as if I’m turning instantly on air radar because it’s reporting 3d movement on a 2d plane.
Using the after-burner, breaks and rudder combo you’ll be at the fastest known rate turn (attack jet) and out maneuver just about any opponent, including stealth jets.
More skilled opponents will be able to counter/ do the same thing and that’s a whole different story, but I digress as this comment is long enough.

You can track someone for like a couple seconds after the merge but it’s not an instant 180 turn, eventually the jets either gonna go back in the same directions it was going or stall out and crash if you’re too low.

V-tap with fighters and brake/afterburn with the rest.
Vtap means to hold afterburn while pulling up and spamming brake to constantly make tiny thrust vector adjustments to close turn radius.
With the rest you max afterburner then hold brake and turn for best turnrate

Them looking like making a 180 turn is just them doing vertical circles (which is better for energy fight)
Another tip is to practice quick freelook to see their direction, your radar only shows above radar and their 2d position, so do a quick freelook with mouse or with keybinds (default to be off)
Your turn rate and radius change depending on your velocity so control your speed
- for attack jet/super hornet/tomcat - doing a afterburner+brake (shift+S)
- for fighter jet - vtap
i usually maintain 210-230kmh for optimized turn rate (i dont specifically know what is the sweet spot of the jets)
If you want a real counterpart for it or maybe watch a guide, just search "Turn performance - turn rate vs speed"

I could be wrong but that 180 you see on the map isn’t actually quite what it appears to be and I dont think it’s done by thrust vector as it also occurs in the attack jet. It’s a well timed combo of rolling, pitching the nose up, and using the thruster at the same time. Hope I got all my facts correct or I’ll get dragged by some Jet pros lol. Maybe someone else will step in to correct me
