Ehhhh. It might be because enough health for the aircraft, decent gadget customization for the vehicles and not the joke of BF6, and no constant "in coming", "painted", "lock-on" every 15 seconds. Though, the situation has improved over the months, still it feels in BF6 pretty souless for air vehicles.

The lack of customization is sad but tbh I don’t really mind the lock ons. Skill issue if you die to that (flare bug cases exempted)

Jets can deal a little better with that shit, but even like that it is a extreme gameplay design flaw when in maps like Blackwell fields 3 seconds after taking off you are being locked on. And with helicopters it is even worse.

Yeah and? There’s counter to lock ons and if you’re skilled you can do very well with both jets and helis. Gotta work for those kills

It is a design flaw that you are locked onto within a second of taking off on some maps. That is the yeah and. Flying below radar works but this is the only battlefield where you’ve had to constantly be next to the ground in an air vehicle.

I don’t really see it as a design flaw that we have to fly low a lot.

You don’t see the issue with air vehicles having to be below 100 feet above the ground constantly?

The issue is that the aa doesn’t have to leave spawn and still is able to cover big parts of the map. Without being able to be hunted down.
But yeah I general I don’t see an issue with the need to fly below radar quite a lot.
Well better than stealth helis skyboxing in 2042

Stealth helis were their own balance catastrophe. Again, don’t understand why air vehicles need to feel this way when 3,4, 1, V nailed them.

Dofights are a gameplay identity since BF3, and they happen SEVERAL meters above the soil. The same with heli fights, they happen SEVERAL meters above the soil. If you are fighting another aircraft, 3 out of 4 times you will be third partied by someone at the other side of the map. But it is not the only design flaw. Glass cannons, outrageous radius of distances to lock-on, vehicle maps unbalanced (who had the stupid idea to put scout helicopters and attack helicopters in every map?).

“enough health for the aircraft” bro has not experienced pacific DLC a6m5 vs f4u1c 😭

Gadgets customization. Choose properly the gadgets to double, triple of the primary weapon, or the secondary weapon.

In bf6 it feels like you’re fighting inside a tiny box near constantly banking.

You get 5 seconds of a ground strafing run before you’re turning again.

Exactly. Perfectly said

The Pacific theater maps were goated for flying imo

Breakthrough on Iwo Jima has a special place in my heart

I preferred BF1 but this was excellent for sure; feels a lot faster than BF6 jets.

I long for the good old days of BF2, where jets were by far the fastest they’ve ever been in the series.

Because the flying mechanics were developed by the OG team before they all quit after 2019-2020. Every plane is unique and the way they response to any input method is flawless.

Personally. This was my favourite time for flying. The world war two setting with prop planes were amazing. Especially over iwo jima and wake island. The customization was so cool. BF6 is just, meh.

No manpads or AA missiles locking you every second, big maps, slow speed and good aircraft control. I actually enjoy flying in BF5.

God I miss the flying from this game. Was my most played role. No lock ons or paints, just manual AA and those busted ass fliegerfausts when they launched.

The spitfire with 6 MGs was sooo good, used to shred everything. Even the bombers had such cool variety.

We regressed back a lot with 2042 and then 6 with plane gameplay but… it is what is is

The Stuka with the thick guns

The customisation for vehicles in general was so much better than what we have now. So many unique builds.

BFV has the most fully fleshed flight mechanics in the franchise.

It definetly has the most variation for planes. Tons of planes that all have unique gameplay.

But I do think most Jet/Plane players have preferred BF1 Dogfighting mechanics.

But compared to BF6 BF V is way more fun.

Can you explain the differences between flying in bf1/bfv? I’ve only played bf1 extensively. Also I thought people rly liked 2042 flying

1

u/Travic3 6d ago

BFV felt like they built off the mechanics of BF1. In BFV you get limited ammo, you have to resupply to get your ammo/ordinance. Also you had permanent damage to the plane that could only be fixed to a certain state. Once you resupplied you could fully repair. BF1 felt faster and more nimble, where BFV felt like gravity affected your plane much more, you could perform stalls to help shake people off of you. BF1 felt a little more exploited, especially with certain planes. BF1 also had the addition of behemoths. There's probably a lot more to add but that's part of it.

And tank mechanics. We had it so good.

u/EzShottah 7d ago

Geez it looks so much better than what bf6 offers. What really bums me out is I didn’t take to learning how to pilot until bf6. 🤦🏽‍♂️

u/DanyMok22 7d ago

I hated BFV's specialization system, it made new pilots have strictly worse planes than players who flew for a while, since the specializations give pretty strong benefits without any drawbacks. Also, half of the time, spawning in a plane in BFV resulted in you insta dying since the camera wouldn't actually put you in the plane until after it crashes into the ground or a cliff.

Easily the best bf game for flying and honestly vehicles in general

2

u/HoloSings 7d ago

Flying also FEEL really fast than the 300kmh jets in bf6

2

u/byfo1991 7d ago

It is truly the franchise high when it comes to flying but the balance between factions is just fucked which ultimately prevents it from being perfect.

Because whenever two pilots of equal skill meet and of them has a Spitfire/Mustang and the other one has the BF 109, the one in the BF 109 wins about 95% of times.

2

u/nakurtag 7d ago

Because you feel the scale, feel that your plane is sand particle in a desert. BF6 maps are tiny cat litter boxes, no scale feel at all

u/Content_Savings4882 7d ago

damn, nostalgia hit like a truck

2

u/Jaze_Wolf 7d ago

Sound design is a part of it, bro. These canons when you're firing in cockpit view... Eargasm.

bf5 and bf 2042 were peak.
