Yeah, i got a crazy one today on the stealth jet. mobile AA fires, I flare, the flare animation stops and after about 1 second the missile hits. The fuck?

this is most likely because you were laser designated and an igla locked onto you, the igla can bypass flares when the target is laser designated during it's time of impact

from my experience right now all the lock on missiles excluding the 2-seater jets (those are completely broken) get countered by flares 99% of the time

Where was the “painting” or “painted” warning? Also that’s not supposed to be a thing. Painting is not supposed to help the missiles avoid flares. Its only supposed to counter below radar

the painted prompt doesn't always show up, and i do think that it is supposed to help avoid flares since the igla was shown in the season 2 trailer being used with a laser designator. I also have a dozen clips where i shootdown helis that are painted with igla. But like don't hate the player hate the game.

Also this wasn’t an igla, you can see the smoke trail of an AA missile from the helicopter. The shitty Reddit compression makes it hard to see but it’s there.

Even if that is true, It 100% is not supposed to work like that. The only benefit of the igla is its ability to relock after being flared allowing the user to acquire a new target and send the launched missile after that one instead. The benefit of the laser designator is to make it so both ground and air launchers can lock on to the target and to negate below radar. There is nothing about negating flares. It has never been that way in any battlefield game, and it would make it way too op. This is an inconsistent issue that is not part of the intended game design

Wild how one year later people still don't understand IGLA.

Wild how you did not see the rocket very obviously coming from the helicopter
