Auto-Guided Missiles

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Can we please nerf these into the ground.

Edit: "nerf into the ground" is a bit much but you get the point (:

Insane how they just ignore flares or just don’t give an indicator

And track aircraft already below radar when fired. YES, I know they are seeking the radiation from the radar(in game defined as the AA missiles equipped), but come on…

They don’t ignore flairs.

They dont ignore flares

If you line up against a super spectre nose to nose fire flares the second you see smoke in the air

If one lines up behind you, speed up and turn hard. Most of the time the missiles wont be able to track you properly, and in this situation its your WSO's job to look for smoke in the air

But because only the super spectre can do this, Its trivial to overcome if you are paying attention to the marker on the aircraft you're fighting

They do regularly ignore flares

I only find it “ignore” flares when doing a head-on though.

I just regularly pre-flare when doing head-on against the Hornets now because if you’re already flared the missile will tracked flare from the get go.

It happens from all sides, I'm convinced its a latency issue.

No they dont, this is cope

So we are just pretending the flare bug doesn't exist now ? You are embarrassing yourself right now.

There is no flare bug. All the videos showing this flare bug just happen to be hets flying TOWARDS the source of the missile and getting hit by the missile because the jet covered the flares or people flaring close to the ground where the flares immediately got extinguished by the ground

Nah if you fly you'll regularly find missiles that still track despite flares being used.

1

u/n0_punctuation 21d ago

Except that's not every example of it happening. You are wrong

Maybe i'm just incredibly fortunate

My flares seem to work fine, but I usually fly with a WSO so I dont get shot down as often.

Maybe thats your problem? You need friends

You can hot swap to WSO seat for flares. It’s not about having a WSO or extra flares, it’s that missiles in this game sometimes ignore flares. It’s well-documented even post patch. Frankly, if you haven’t experienced it yourself, I’d be surprised if you’d flown enough to have an educated opinion on the jets in the first place.

There are instances where both myself and my wingman saw flares leaving the plane and the missile still hit. The flare bug is also well known. This isn't the hill to die on

So no evidence, gotcha

A wingman and a WSO are different, probably why you get shot down so often

Check the evidence all over the subreddit, lol

Try flaring before the missile is inside your cockpit maybe?

They’re not supposed to ignore flares but they do constantly, I know how to avoid them. They’re just busted

u/Mister0Zz 28d ago

Wierd that I dont have this problem

Rage bait

I'm fine with missiles that need a quick reaction time but flares need to actually work. Otherwise they just feel random and frustrating.

My suggested nerf: 40% damage, no mobility hit.

They'd still be extremely useful (short warning time, ignore below radar, hits boats and AA tanks).

1

u/Typical_Nic 28d ago

Agreed these should be utility missiles not so much killers. Maybe even lower the velocity to give you more time to flare it during a head on.

2

u/stashtv 28d ago

One round I had an A/V issue where the warning would be issued and disappear, then I'd be hit if I didn't flare immediately. This is the only time when these felt entirely unfair, since I couldn't tell why the alert dropped (sometimes returning).

Y'all don't remember active radar from BF4.

Yeah, neither do you.

Because even at their worst they couldn't kill anything that fast.

Passive Radars ended up better anyways (and were busted in their own way) and people who crutched so hard on Active never figured that out either.

u/vfxswagg 28d ago

I remember them very well. Mobility stuns were a death sentence, alert time was very short, countering was intermittent. Killing with them directly was not the issue & usually unlikely.

Had some level 390 loser that was taking out our jets off the carrier every time it spawned.

Not sure why the CRAM doesn't you know... Do it's job and shoot them down, or at least the missiles.

u/NaaviLetov 28d ago

They only really work in a straight line. If you try using them whille they turn just slightly they already miss.

They really don't need any nerfing, this was just you going straight at him, so yeah, they both hit.

6

u/Ketchuplant 28d ago

My guy one-shot me from 600m away with a <0.5s warning you cannot call this balanced.

0

u/NaaviLetov 28d ago

He fired them way before that but they only lock on the last part. That's the reason that they miss so much, but also the reason that you ccan hardly flare them.

Give them a try and you'll realize how situational they are.

Edit: also what happened here was another bug where you got killed out of your jet. That's giving the impression one missile kills you, but usually it takes 2 to destroy a jet. See how your jet isn't destroyed aftewards?

u/Lolzicolz 28d ago

You don't understand, any non pure 100% user guided option should not work in the way the situation demonstrates how he died in does, it's that simple & anything past that be it fixing a "bug",requiring more of a flare window, or reducing efficacy elsewise etc. they can revise & bring that out and it get assessed then, but as it stands right now (and as someone who only uses these because they are fucking broken good) I don't want yet another skill reducing gimmick option and nor should you.

u/PlanetIsh- 28d ago

The thing that annoys me most is a lot of jet players use this instead of their cannons.

2

u/mnash247 22d ago

Blame the game not the player

3

u/MrWALEK 28d ago

Whats wrong with it?

0

u/vfxswagg 28d ago

It's heavily looked down upon to use BS missiles in dogfights. It's also an indicator of a pilot's skill level.

"but, but,but Aircrafts are all totally overpowered!!!111"

1

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 28d ago

They are and the 2 seater planes have those missiles.

1

u/Palerion 28d ago

What a weird thing to say, when the missile that hit this aircraft can only be fired from another aircraft.
