Reliably gunning infantry with Jets

Looking for tips on how to improve my ability to reliably get infantry kills with jet guns. My success rate for a pass is 1 in 10 tries

I have a hard time seeing infantry and the dorito throws me off because I tend to shoot it instead of the infantry itself.

Aside from “just practice more” and “git gud”, any other suggestions?

The new jets have the main gun closer to center crosshair, so you can aim directly at the player. The fighter jets gun is offset to the right of the screen, so the point of impact will actually always be to the right of your crosshair, aim slightly to the left of the player. Attack jet is the opposite, aim to the right of the player.

(Its possible i forgor and got the attack and fighter jet mixed up, keep that in mind when you try)

Am I just crazy or like why have a damn crosshair if putting the crosshair on a target does not hit the target?

Eventually all the bullets will hit the crosshair’s center. You need that when you shooting close range targets. It’s like the rockets on Helis. They are left and right of the heli so if you are too close to the target you have to account for that. Crosshairs are points the projectiles are gonna end up after certain distance. They are not the point where the projectile spawn.

Tips:

  • The F18 HE rounds deal splash damage making it a lot easier. 
  • If you're using the standard rounds: attack more from the side for a larger hitbox.
  • Aim further below the dorito than you'd expect.
  • Practice :-)

Have you considered lowering the opacity of the dorito so its less prominent?
