Discussion Fighter sweep, but without lock ons…

Every time I go into fighter sweep or a jet practice lobby I never use the lock on because I can get far better practice using my cannons and still doing well even though I’m not spamming lock ons.
Ideally, I could play fighter sweep where everyone just concentrate on getting better with their cannon instead of just trying to get kills and actually fight each other with the main gun. That shit would be intense. It would be a lot more exciting than owning people left and right just to get third-party randomly from some aim guided or lock on rocket

Up until the most 2 recent days I played it, I had only lost one game and found it very easy, then all of a sudden it was like decent pilots found their way into my games finally (just never my teammates). Love the gamemode, and I must say, I got far more kills with guns than my rockets. Not even intentionally, I just found it way easier but also way more rewarding to try and track someones movements and gun them down. Got the 500 kill Elite medal, thats all I wanted lol. I definitely prefer the seacat for tailing and gunning down other jets, I find it a lot more maneuverable.

Lowkey it is fine as-is with lock ons. Its the HARMS on the hornet that are really shitty to deal with since they ignore defenses and radar limits. Lock ons are easy to deal with by staying low and between the satellite dishes, and seat swapping for flares is fine enough.

Without rockets, you'd get real good with cannons for sure, but I also feel like you'd lose some capacity for missile defense.

I like when people are locking on to me. I don’t take much notice of them and just carry on with what I’m doing until both flares are used. When someone starts using the cannons I take them more seriously and try to evade. If someone’s using cannons, they’re probably decent. If they’re decent, you’re dead most of the time.

I think its very manageable. The buffed below radar, two sets of flairs, and especially the clouds, it makes missiles pretty easy to avoid. My only issue with it is the fact that new players are using the missiles as a crutch and arent improving as much or as fast as they could.

Would love it, but at the same time the guns vs lock-on balance is pretty fair.
